To be clear here, to the north and further towards Fourfires, or south and back the way you came. Need to be clear.

<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Corwin

North, half speed, waiting for the Master and our second ship to catch up.

Anastasia

You slow down long enough for the other ship to catch up. Dana's at the helm of that one and waves, "About fuckin' time," she calls, "We ready to do this shit?"

"Is your ship clear of resistance?" Jaela calls back, now waiting for the Master to board.

The Master does so as Dana calls over, cupping her hands to her mouth, "Yeah, fuckin' slaves run it all below decks! Bullshit if you ask me, fucking limpdicked motherfuckers can't get it up, let alone lift a fucking oar, so they have slaves do it!"

That certainly changes the situation with the exploding ship, Jaela muses. Their souls were freed, she supposes, but that's not really the sort of liberation she hoped for.

She notes the directions of the two unsteerable ships, but decides to first crush all resistance before heading out to free the slaves onboard them.

"See if there're any enemies below decks," she tells the Master, nodding at Dana and raising her ship's speed to its maximum.

"Gladly. Slavers are scum," The Master says, slipping belowdecks.

Meanwhile, Mei flies over between ships and lands next to you. She takes your hand and points at where the Master went, then moves to the wheel and takes it.

"Thanks," Jaela tells her, heading below after the Master.

The Master is already ahead. There are cabins here and he peeks in, casually reaching in and snapping the neck of an an azer who brandishes a dagger at him.

> roll 1d20 only misses on a 1 here
<Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d20 only misses on a 1 here --> [ 1d20=4 ]{4}

Also auto kills with minimum damage, so won't even dignify a damage roll.

"Storage and rooms for the efreet," he says, going to the end of the hall and down another set of stairs. "There's valuables for later."

"I'm more interested in the speed and carrying capacity of these ships," Jaela tells him. "I don't know if I could punch through with a Gate once we take the camp, so this would be a good way to bust people out." Following the Master, she asks, "How did you get the other ship to explode, anyway?"
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Anastasia

"A fluke," The Master even smiles slightly, "It was the capital ship of them, or at least the leader was there. He had a rather remarkable staff with great magic. It broke most spectacularly, as it protected him from my fists, but it did not protect itself."

"Lucky you. Hey, let's go check out the golem storage area! Maybe we could use them ourselves, drop them on the slavers." Jaela tilts her head. "Might help to knock out one efreet, too, just in case we need a live one as a key."
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Anastasia

"Yes, because a ship exploding around me is fortunate," The Master chuckles, "Much like the wrath of a student, spectacular and rather futile against me."

The next deck below is one you smell before you see. After the third step down, you suddenly smell it. Waste and filth, and a few more steps take you down. Below are long benches, each one stuffed with rag-wearing, slumped mortals of all kinds. They barely move, withered to the point of being skeletons. Thrums of white energy slowly leave them and bleed into the walls.

K:A check here.

The mortals here are little more than living power sources. They're kept to pump out positive energy, which is converted into magical energy. They are reduced to resources and used until they have nothing more to give. It is a particularly macabre and vile method of powering magic, and based on the magical patterns you see on the walls, they're ensorcelled to steal the souls of any mortals who die and entrap them somewhere below.
