You aren't sure, you'd guess 4-5 miles. Perhaps halfway.


Ahead are ships - a half dozen, as well as four red dragons flying with them. Dozens of efreet fly on and around the ships as well, along with several armored efreet riding scarlet-red wyverns or similar dragon-relatives. Others ride on flying carpets, carrying wands and staves at the ready. On the flanks are air elementals, burning hot with the flames of the realm, ranging in size from huge and only getting bigger. Winds whip around, blowing the superheated air against you. With them are hazy smoke para-elementals, choking masses of foul air.

An entire aerial squadron opposed you, over a hundred souls strong, backed by powerful vehicles and support.

"Well now," Jaela murmurs, before gesturing sharply after the disabled ship she had sent careening on a south-eastern path. "Mei! Dana! New course! Catch up to that vessel and take the slaves off it! Send the Master to mop up the guys on the carpets, he'll like that! I'll draw off their dragons."

And then, Jaela blinks and is gone!

Round 0, Time Stop boots as swift.

Round 1, run action to get behind and a bit above the leftmost ship, quickened Holy Transformation (triggers Contingency of Righteous Might). My reach becomes 15ft, so I'll seek to position myself between the leftmost ship and the one after it.
Round 2, full attack against the rudder and the back of the ship with Gae Trocaire, I think it is destroyed pretty well without rolling. I can move 5ft, so unless the distance between the ships is more than 35ft I should end up in range of the second ship from the left. Quickened Shield of Warding.

Time resumes (Round 0), only for me to use a Time Stop spell as standard.

Ship rudders are obliterated, torn asunder by your spear and magic. Chaos erupts around you as the Master takes to the air, fighting amid flying carpets and efreet. All is chaos and destruction as the ships advance - and four dragons rush at you, screaming in fury.

From their point of view, it must seem as if she's teleported through the dimensional blocks, though the truth is much more intimidating. But now the efreet have an enemy behind them, an enemy in front of them and disarray in their ranks due to the dragons.

Dragons can't change their flight plan that easily, and the efreet ships can't maneuver to get out of the way, either. That's the key, here, Jaela decides. Perhaps they won't actually run into one another, but misdirection and mischief would serve her best. She may be capable of slaying this army, especially given her companions, but it would take too long and be too risky. Rather, it would be best to deny her enemies the very possibility, and fuel their fear and doubts by fanning the chaos they are ill-accustomed to.

It's tempting to attempt to summon an air elemental that could use its superior reach to strike at the helms of two adjacent ships. But Jaela changes her mind at the last moment, instead deciding to force the dragons to go after her through their fleet. And what better way to accomplish that than by hiding right behind the fourth ship?

To add insult to injury, she smites the air elementals clustered together with their smokey brethren with Flame Strike, while remaining floating perfectly in place.

Charging vs ship #4! Let's break its steering too. Also using a move action to channel Hideous Laughter into Gae Bolg after swapping back to it after the charge.

The elementals split apart at your flame strike, avoiding it in perfect tandem. You know it when you see it - unit tactics. These elementals are well trained. As you fly amid the fleet, fireballs bursting around you and the half-heard cries of the efreet audibly loud, the dragons have to circle around and make a slow turn, now 200ft behind you at the end of it, behind the fleet.

Then the fireballs adjust and catch up, bursting all around you.
