You teach and the elemental watches. "I...am not ready for this," He finally says, speaking slowly and carefully. "I will be one day. Thank you."

[Ebiris]

Well if it was that easy Aurora would be full of archmages wouldn't it? "You will be, in time. Just keep on studying and challenging yourself," she advises. "Now, we will continue downwards. Farewell, fellow Sorcerer," she says, flying out over the sinkhole and beginning to descend once more.

[Anastasia]

Once you're going on down, Gold speaks up, "This Big Magma concerns me. Why would he care about an elemental with the ability for sorcery?"

[Ebiris]

"Force of personality is the defining feature of a sorcerer, isn't it?" Afina replies as they slowly float down. "It's not something most elementals are very strong on. So where one is found it must be like a rare prize."

[Anastasia]

"Yes, and one with that has the potential to be great." Arrel flies in circles around all of you, sweeping the perimeter as you fall. "We're also meeting a notable lack of resistance. I suspect one and another are related."

"You think it's a place for elementals with potential and not just a place for them to promote?" Simmer asks, "Devin up there's a unique elemental of a sort as well, or will be when Devin's done with him."

[Ebiris]

"But the elemental was the sort to allow itself to be subsumed by Devin's will, so probably lacks much sorcerous potential. Hence its fear of the place," Afina surmises. "Well even if it's not quite what we expected, I'm sure Big Magma will have insights to help me understand this plane better so we'll keep going for now."

[Anastasia]

You go down and through another few bands of magma. The tunnel's starting to narrow and the spiders are leaving you be. Far below, instead of darkness, you can see a reddish glow.

[Ebiris]

Afina continues to descend uninterrupted, shifting a little bit to maintain herself in the middle of the shaft but otherwise content to just go with the gentle fall afforded by the Sinkhole.

[Anastasia]

Like this all of you descend to the red glow. You come to float above a small little pool of magma, where a single voice asks you, "You are not of magma. What is your purpose here?"

[Ebiris]

"I am of Fire and Earth," Afina answers. "I want to learn more about Magma, to understand how the elements inside of me can better work with each other. Is this something you can help with?"

[Anastasia]

"Yes," The voice says, sounding...pleased? Yes, pleased. "What do you know about Magma?"

[Ebiris]

"Very little," Afina confesses. "I will share my suppositions, however. Magma is the natural medium between Fire and Earth. Where Fire is quick and wild, and Earth is slow and careful, thus Magma is measured and inexorable. And much as when Ice and Water combine to form something with aspects in common with Earth, so too does Magma share a parallel with Water, but with curious differences as well. Ice is even more static than Earth, and Magma is more forceful than Water - where a river of water may take centuries to carve its course, a flow of magma will do the same in mere hours.

"Those are my impressions, at any rate. I am most interested to hear from those who live here to correct any of my misunderstandings."

[Anastasia]

"You are not wrong," The voice says, "I sense the power in you. Open your  mind and apply it to yourself. The answers you need are already there, within you."
