To defeat a daemon (Jaela, Afina)

"Fire is so gauche," Bubbles says, "If you insist on going, are you familiar with Zaaman Rul?"

[Ebiris]

"I've dealt with him before," Afina answers. "In fact it was carrying out an errand for him that led to my elemental transformation. We're friendly enough, and staying close to him would be for the best if we went there."

[Anastasia]

"Really!" Bubbles pauses, a hand on her hip, "Was it a reward for service well done, dearie?"

[Corwin]

"I was hoping we'll gain more allies on Fire this way, yes, so staying near him works," Jaela agrees.

[Ebiris]

"No, I was going to kill a solar in a place called Magmasoul, but at the very bottom of it all my protections were dispelled. Magmasoul is a place where creatures of fire meditate to gain power, and others can gain the power of fire. Since I was burning to death at the time and couldn't bear to die without seeing Lifasa free, I accepted Fire into myself. I still honour it with primacy, though it hasn't stopped me completing the other elements," Afina explains as she descends.

[Anastasia]

"Wait, why would you be killing a solar," Bubbles says, "I know you're powerful, but that's something a devil would do!" Down you go - another ladder, but the traps are already sprung. Down adn down you go, to the bottom - which your spell tells you is an illusion hiding a pool of superchilled water, that will deal damage like lava would do. If you fly past it, the path continues safely.

[Ebiris]

"Oh, fallen Solar," Afina corrects. "One of Eblis's lot." Flying over the illusory bottom she says, "Watch the floor,  it's an illusion over super-cooled water. Bit of a hot and cold theme with this place, isn't there?"

[Anastasia]

"Traps and minions, yet no powerful servants. An interesting approach," Mirima hops along, "Perhaps this daemon has less allies than he would like."

[Corwin]

She really should have researched him properly, Jaela laments. Was she that affected by the recent victory? Something to look into later.

For now, she responds, "Maybe it's all leftover from when the wizard made the demiplane?" while racking her memories on what else of note the daemon actually did.

Besides what you already know? Kras is a powerful ultroloth, a shadowy and faceless being said to be a student of various profane arcane arts. He commands the elements and befouls them with the all-consuming power of darkness. It is said hope dies when he comes nigh.

He carries a longsword that steals faces and hopes from any it wounds.

[Corwin]

"As for Kras himself," Jaela continues, "it's pretty much what we've seen already. Lots of nasty shit with elements. When we actually face him, try not to get stabbed by his sword. I can probably heal the wounds, but let's not risk it and play things safe, it sounded disfiguring."

[Anastasia]

"A mere ultroloth will not stop us," Mirima says confidently as you continue on. Ahead is another plain room, an empty pedestal ahead. Another dozen doors are around.

Afina can tell the third door from the right is correct. A special bone token must be placed on the pedestal to open it, though it may be possible to fool it with sufficient skill.

Afina has lots of skill when it comes to opening doors, as she proves with a disintegrate spell on the third door from the right!
