Sulia's will is warm. Warm, proud, strong, enduring. Any lingering pain from your wounds vanishes in that moment as you feel her, as you lead the way. You barely notice Donald cleaving through a mere gelugon and Latha smashing another's insectile head in, giving you the time and cover you need.

To your will the flames slowly lower around the courtyard, retreating to the edges of Noir Jardin.

She smiles and nods to Sulia, letting go and looking towards where she can sense her allies. "That's bought them some time from the flames, now we need to make sure they're clear of the rest."

A shifting. You see it, sense it. A creature coming from a chasm in the earth as you speak, charging towards Noir Jardin.

A hellcat, massive, larger than several Hannas. Standing atop it, arms crossed and gaze focused on the four of you, is a pit fiend in heavy armor, entire body clad in black plate. It looms, about 1500ft away and closing absurdly, supernaturally fast, hellcat taking to the air with massive leap after leap.

The figure before you is Maldias, a powerful forward scout in Bel's army. He sees to the farthest, unknown reaches of Avernus, patrolling them for demonic invasion for thousands of years at a time. He holds the rank of Colonel and has the brevet rank of First Circle General. He rides on his massive hellcat and sees to this, granted near total freedom to execute his duties by Bel (and according to the stories, for Zariel and even Tiamat and others in the far past).

It's noted that this is on purpose, for his personality is as foul as he is talented. Too valuable to waste and too tiresome to keep around, he's sent to the hinterlands to deal with those.

His companion is Red Gale, said to be one of the greatest hellcats, or even possibly a paragon.

Regardless, what he's doing here is anyone's guess.

He might not actually be here to fight them in that case, it could be him wanting to report too an old leader?

Then again he might just fight them out of general principle, and she can't really fault him for that.

You get the distinct feeling he's hostile, yes. But also curious, perhaps.

Well there's plenty to be curious about! "Sulia, cover the fortress-side and help maintain a path out for our friends? I'll watch your back," she says, raising her blade as she faces the onrushing devil.

A hellcat like that, it's going to go for a charge and pounce which she doesn't want to find herself on the receiving end, so she prepares to blunt it with a wall of force, then they can engage in melee more comfortably.

1500 feet away is a fair distance alright... hellcats aren't that fast naturally, though this one's clearly a cut above, still Alicia won't worry about getting charged until they're within 500 feet. That means she's free to open right now with some long range bombardment, a flare of sunlight bursting over the pit fiend and hellcat.
