As the party flies back up, "Maybe he's hoping we'll give up?" Jetina suggests, "Rather than face all of his defenses?"

"It's possible." Moore says. "Try one more disintegrate at the ground in the middle, please." Moore adds.

Let's see what that groaning noise was!

You disintegrate the center of the floor. Beneath is is boiling lava - and much of the rest of the floor gives way at that point, plunging in. Only the floor close to the walls is intact.

"Maybe if we destroy one of the doors, enough flows out so we can get past?" Jetina asks, staring at the lava below.

[Nephrite]

Moore nods. "Let's try it."

Make an attack roll, forgot these last night. It's ranged enough that it qualifies.

The door and wall around it are gone. Lava pours in, hissing and hot, falling down into the pool below. It flows and flows, the pool below slowly rising. This goes on for a little bit, until the pool almost reaches the door level. Almost. Perhaps knee deep lava remains in the passage beyond, but it looks manageable, if glowing hot.

[Nephrite]

"Just be careful and we'll fly over it." Moore says. "If we need to, we can freeze it. But... how did he even manage to set this up?"

A shake of his head as he flies towards the now-open passage.

[Anastasia]

With a hint of a smile, "Imagine, an efreet who lives in the plane of Magma has magic to manipulate it," she says, "What an age we live in!"

Jetina puts a hand to her mouth, hiding a smile, "Was that sarcasm, Xandra?"

"...mildly," Xandra clears her throat. "Pardon. I'd like to know how he did it, if only for academic curiosity."

[Nephrite]

Moore sighs melodramatically. "Everyone's a critic."

He continues forward!

Ahead is a cavern with cavities in the wall, little pools of lava within., still trickling out dribbles. Beyond this is a plain wooden door, unmelted and unburnt by the intense heat.

Take 10 for 81 on Spellcraft, is there anything special about the door besides being enchanted against heat?

[Anastasia]

The door's warded with the same teleport field as the ones above ground. Additionally, it's magically locked, only to open to the caster.

[Nephrite]

Would it be reasonable to try a UMD check to trick the door into opening? Or, alternatively, would an Antimagic Ray suppress the magic on the door?

[Anastasia]

You think you could try UMD, yes. Antimagic ray should work as well.
