On the fly it's iffy at best, and that's if you knew the building you were working with. You're essentially limited by time demands here.

Of course, throwing powerful magic at it can likely speed the process along. A properly used wish or miracle could brute force a lot of this.

That works for me, as long as I can figure it out before hand, so that wish is the very last thing I can't before I go through the gate to minimize risk of spell failure in combat.

"Hold on," Jarem says as Alyssa considers. "Go back to that Inevitable. You said in theory he runs the back. Why?"

Here Emily shakes her head, "He's somewhat reclusive, I hear, and usually operates through lieutenants."

"Great, just great," Jarem says, starting to tick off fingers. "Okay, does this marut have a name? Do his lieutenants have a name?"

Alyssa waits for the answers, suspecting Jarem's concern is about higher level response.

"His name is Nales XI," Emily begins, "Ah, he has a few lieutenants. One is Corryn Featheroak, a half elf with genie blood. A skilled fencer and diplomat from what I've heard. Azile, a gelugon who has gone rogue to further his own career and a telepath of considerable power. Finally, a moon dog. A gray moon dog - which means one that's turned against its nature, but hasn't fallen all the way to evil. His name is Bannoth and is a powerful shapechanger."

Alyssa turns to the others, "Thoughts?"

"Assuming all four of them are competent," Jarem begins, "Then we have four credible threats. How competent is a question, but with what they're handling, I'd suspect they aren't weak."

"I know Azile," Bastian speaks up, at the window again and looking back. "He's been active for about 10,000 years that I know of, doing this or that to further his wealth and position. I haven't heard of him in a few centuries, so I presume he's been busy with this. He's strong and defeats his opponents by attacking their minds."

"All men," Ianvasah frowns, "We can lead them rather directly if we care to manipulate them."

"Do you know anything specific about his abilities? We can put better defenses in place if so. What about the others?"

[Anastasia]

"He assaults your mind, causing mental breakdown and ultimately catatonia," Bastian says, "It destroys the mind and without restoration, it stays destroyed."

"Hm... Mindblank is standard... and likely expected. I would assume he'll have some way to deal with it. I'll look into it."

[Anastasia]

"That's a start," Jarem agrees, "As far as spells cast before we leave, what are we looking at?"

This spell protects against all mind-affecting spells and effects as well as information gathering by divination spells or effects. Mind blank even foils limited wish, miracle, and wish spells when they are used in such a way as to affect the subject's mind or to gain information about it. In the case of scrying that scans an area the creature is in, such as arcane eye, the spell works but the creature simply isn't detected. Scrying attempts that are targeted specifically at the subject do not work at all.

I haven't gone through their spells. They should probably get Spell Turning or something if they can. Anything they can provide that stacks with my stuff. Morale bonuses or sacred. If that brain melter is going to be around someone/thing to counterspell might not be a bad choice.
