It's hard to narrow down, but your best guess is the Free Fliers - a loose organization of rogues, thieves and the like who are based in the Astral Plane. Mortals doing mortal things, thought not all are nasty and evil. It's mostly an agreement to help the others if something goes wrong, something of a loose bit of insurance.

Alyssa makes a note, if they've infiltrated his residence, then they may have already gathered intel, then continues to watch.

"Sir," The woman's voice and then silence, before he gets up and rises, as if to leave and go elsewhere.

Alyssa suspects her scrying has been discovered, but continues to follow the dao. If he begins to wander or delay the meeting, she'll set up some defenses.

He get up and get dressed in fine, comfortable robes. He's heading right out into a luxurious palace, a pair of beautiful female servants (elves, you note) follow him without a word spoken.

He doesn't give any sign of that. He seems entirely natural.

Alyssa keeps a look out for any warning signs, but continues to follow him.

A walk into a side room. A pleasant antechamber, dominated by a soft, comfortable couch. Here the dao sits, his feet up on an ottoman as he simply relaxes. Within a few moments the far door opens and a figure enters. A tall, strapping figure, a well muscled man with the head of a brown dog. He wears rich clothing of fine silk, cut well and dominated by a heavy greatcoat.

"Sir," he nods, "I'm afraid your fears are well founded."

"Curse it all to Air," the dao breathes out, "Did he get the Vaeynar?"

"It's secure," The figure says - an arcanoloth, a type of daemon, according to your planar lore. "How and why he got mixed up in petty theft isn't clear. Unfortunately his body was prepared so that Speak with Dead doesn't work."

"Bah, that means nothing," With a wave of one big arm, "I don't care about the expense. Use strong divinations."

To this the arcanaloth bows and departs, while the dao sits where he is.
