By now the crystals are getting exceptionally large and deadly as they over-run and then slay more and more disarrayed demons, so Alicia is content to let them do the heavy lifting - it was a lot of magic after all, she ought to see a good return for it! The wind continues to blow back towards them, pressing demons and further limiting their movements, making them vulnerable, as she simply flies ahead and overtakes Antenora.

The two of you escape - they fade away, as if they were never there at all. Another lie? Yet the path goes on.

The answer is a surge of crystals.

Crystals form from cracks in reality ahead. These crystals grow and connect with each other. Before you, a ram headed human forms, made entirely of a bright purple quartz or similar material. Its legs are bound together, as if crudely melted into a single one.

Nothing you can do here will avail you.

The prison for them will become the prison for you.

It's true they don't necessarily want to continue on the path laid out before them, although she hasn't yet spotted a particularly inviting alternative.

"Then why is it so different now from the last time we visited?" she asks, not immediately attacking the newly formed creature. "Are you concerned?"

You wear truth like an armor and wield glory like a sword.

Who has armed you so? What have you seen to bestow you with such glories?

"I've seen enough horrors that you can't shock me, and enough wonders that no horror will break my resolve," Alicia answers, eyes on the crystalline creature but speaking to something more abstract.

"I was not given a charge by an Incarnation, as a mortal I was free to explore Creation and make my own judgement on its worth, on my place in it. And I decided for myself that it needs protecting, that it cannot be allowed to end. Even the sunken pits of the Abyss, though a pox on Creation, I would still protect from that ultimate End."

In the distance, in the far distance, the voice of the fake celestial is heard.

The master of this place. In his small form, merely one of the fragments of the greater horror. It flies 600ft above and yet seems almost next to you, an expression of unhidden loathing, even as the crystalline being begins to move towards you.
