19:05 <•Kotono> The party takes a moment, talking and debating where to go next. "Well, what appeals to us, too?" Anne asks, plainly.
19:06 <Devar> "We should probably try and just explore everything." Devar says. "Let's go back to the start and go down to that muddy place, see if it leads anywhere. Then we can retrace our steps?"
19:08 <Skaya> "Okay. We might as well see if we can rid the ruin of those creatures."
19:09 <•Kotono> roll 1d100
19:09 → Kobot joined (~dunefar@44179BDF.F0122E14.484B5E60.IP)
19:09 <•Kotono> roll 1d100
19:09 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d100 --> [ 1d100=66 ]{66}
19:09 <•Kotono> roll 1d100+10 (+10 ???)
19:09 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d100+10 (+10 ???) --> [ 1d100=30 ]{40}
19:11 <•Kotono> You return to the muddy place and find it as it was before. Namely: It opens up into a wide open space in all directions. A vast chamber, one with no stairs ahead despite the ones you saw in the rooms in the above floor. It's full of filth and dirt, big enough you can't see the walls in any direction. The filth is moving, mud glooping and glopping around.
19:12 <Skaya> "Try blasting it with electricity and see if it's effective?"
19:13 <Devar> "That belt must really help with this." Devar says.
19:14 <Devar> Devar hums once to the suggestion. "I doubt it would work but I can try." He says, summoning Storm's Eye and pointing it forward!
19:15 <Devar> OOC: using the call lightning ability to see if it will clear any of this gross stuff, do you need a damage roll?
19:16 <•Kotono> OOC: Please.
19:17 <Devar> Roll 5d8 DC 20 reflex if it matters
19:17 <Kobot> Devar rolled 5d8 DC 20 reflex if it matters --> [ 5d8=20 ]{20}
19:19 <•Kotono> The others stay back as Devar summons Storm's Eye. It yawns as it appears, "Mud and blood, only without the blood. Doesn't matter, it all fries!" Lightning slams down into the great pools of mud, frying part of it. The problem is taht the rest of it? It begins to form and move. Vaguely human like shapes, dozens of them as the filth gathers itself. What's more, more mud begins to flow in this
19:19 <•Kotono> direction from afar, slithering across the floor and racing ahead. All around you dozens of sets of empty eyes stare the party down, as shield, staff and sword are readied. Then, in a soft blurbble...OOC: Languages spoken, all?
19:20 <Skaya> OOC: Common, Elven, Dwarven, Celestial, Draconic
19:20 <Devar> OOC: same
19:23 <•Kotono> The words aren't understood by either of you. However, Sanda says, "They're speaking an odd dialect of Terran," she says quickly, then calls back to them in rumbling words. Blurbles, rumbles. Rumbles, blurbles. "I think they're an offshoot of earth elementals. They say they're from the Decaying Sea, and they want to know what we're doing."
19:24 <•Kotono> "Brushing up on your Terran continues to pay dividends," Anne murmurs, shield not lowered an inch.
19:24 <Devar> Devar dismisses Storm's Eye and will kneel down with his head down. "Please tell them I meant no harm. I did not know they were alive, and I apologize. Hopefully we can get through without combat."
19:25 <Skaya> "Tell them we're looking for Oathstrike and Oathplate," Skaya asks Sanda.
19:28 <•Kotono> Sanda nods and answers, more blurbles and rumbles. Sanda gestures with both arms, pointing ahead and then at Devar, then at Anne. Some nodding by Sanda and more words. She cracks a smile and points at Anne and then Rina, then nods. Rina half frowns, "Excuse me, are you talking about us?"
19:28 <•Kotono> "Shush," Sanda says in Common, then back to conversing with the mud creatures. A few more back and forths before, "Alright! I have some news."
19:29 <Skaya> "I'm all ears!"
19:30 <•Kotono> "That way," Sanda points off tot he left. "Until you find a door and through that. I remember what Starre said about disease, and as much as they understand how it wrecks us, confirmed it. It's not safe for anyone but Devar. Statistically speaking it's both a good and a terrible idea for Devar to go alone."
19:31 <•Kotono> With a soft shiver, "Yes, may I never get sick again, after last time." Anne declares.
19:31 <Skaya> "The disease is that unique that even I would catch it?"
19:31 <Skaya> OOC: poor purity of body
19:33 <Devar> Devar will move to stand up. "I'd hate for you to risk it and get sick." He says.
19:33 <•Kotono> "I have no idea," Sanda answers, "Starre didn't clarify. It's your health, Skaya."
19:34 <•Kotono> "Which means Skaya will risk it and go," Anne comments, "That's just now she is."
19:34 <•Kotono> *how
19:34 — Skaya taps her chin thoughtfully. "Anne, can you cast Remove Disease spontaneously? Or would I need to try and survive another day until you could use it?"
19:39 <•Kotono> "I can't," Anne shakes her head, "Only spells to heal wounds."
19:39 <Skaya> "Right. Well, it's up to you, Devar."
19:40 <Devar> "I'll do it." He says.
19:41 <Skaya> "Ah, I meant to say that whether I come is up to you. What do you think?"
19:42 <Devar> He hums. "I don't want to put you in any risk." He eventually says. "Leave it to me."
19:42 <Skaya> "Okay! Come back if it's too hard and we'll reassess."
19:43 <Devar> He nods. "Hopefully it's less dangerous than that Aurilite."
19:43 <•Kotono> "Hopefully," Rina comes up, "Do you have enough healing on your own?"
19:44 <Devar> He nods. "Yes, I've got it all recovered and I've got potions if need be."
19:44 <•Kotono> "I have a few potions if you need them," Anne offers, "Better you use them than not have them if they're needed."
19:46 <Devar> "I think it'll be fine." He says. "I'll plan to meet you all upstairs, in case this takes a while."
19:46 <•Kotono> Sanda burbles a few more words out, then, "Best if you fly over it all," Sanda advises, "Don't attack anything unless it's self defense."
19:47 <Devar> He nods. "That's the plan, but I assume I have to defeat this knight of diseases."
19:47 <Skaya> "You know, Sanda, I did try to talk with the first one of them that we found, but it just rushed to attack us. What's different here?"
19:49 <•Kotono> More conversation, "Oh. I'm talking to an elder, the lesser ones are dimmer, more instinctive."
19:49 <•Kotono> "Good luck, Devar," Rina offers to you, starting to head back up.
19:50 <Skaya> "That would do it," Skaya agrees with a nod. "So are we okay to wait here? Or should we wait for Devar further away?"
19:51 <Devar> He nods to Rina. "I'd say wait upstairs so you're not in filth, but if you want to chat with them..." with that, he will head in the direction indicated - flying over it as he can.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

19:53 <•Kotono> ----
19:54 <•Kotono> With that, Devar takes off, mud and worse below him. As he goes the smell begins to intensify, becoming less pleasant by the moment. Yet in the distance is a thin fog, which cuts down far visibility a great deal. A pale green and white fog, a sickly color to match the sickly scent here.
19:55 <Devar> He has nothing to fear - he continues on and tries to breathe through his mouth as much as he can.
19:57 <•Kotono> It's getting worse. Oh, it's getting worse as he goes! The muck below seems content to burble and bubble, nothing more as...OOC: Fort. Disease isn't a concern, but it can still turn your stomack.
19:59 <Devar> Roll 1d20+20 I am pretty good at yucky gas stuff
19:59 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+20 I am pretty good at yucky gas stuff --> [ 1d20=10 ]{30}
20:01 <•Kotono> Devar endures and flies. A few minutes of progress and then in the far distance he can see something. A large hut of dried mud and muck, constructed on a small hill of more stable, mostly dried mud. In spite of the terrible stench he endures, fully in control of himself.
20:03 <Devar> Hmm, should he stop? Well, he can try. He flies down to see if there's anyone there at all.
20:04 <•Kotono> There's only one entrance, and a simple, crude door seals the way ahead. No windows, you'll have to go in to find out more.
20:04 <Devar> He will knock! "Hello? Is anyone here?" He calls out. Well, knock as best as he can on a door like this.
20:07 <•Kotono> No answer or response.
20:08 <Devar> He will try to open the door! Or at least move it if it isn't on hinges.
20:11 <•Kotono> It opens. Inside is a large empty space. A door in the back is the only thing here, besides a few bones littered about.
20:12 <Devar> He will go to open the door, curious if it leads to some warped space.
20:16 <•Kotono> It's the same room, again. A repetition, only with more bones on the floor, scattered about. Otherwise the only way forward is another door straight ahead.
20:18 <Devar> He sighs. Is the prudent thing to leave? Well he continues on and forward to open the next door.
20:20 <•Kotono> The next door opens. It'e sthe same. More bones again though, and a door to the left as well as a door ahead.
20:21 <Devar> Huh. He checks the door to the left first!
20:21 <•Kotono> The door will not open.
20:22 <Devar> He's not as adept with this sort of thing as Skaya is - he will continue on with the other door for now and come back if need be.
20:24 <•Kotono> Another repetition. Only one door ahead. However, in the center of the room, is a stairway going down.
20:25 <Devar> "What in the world governs these layouts?" He wonders. He goes to the door first to open it.
20:27 <•Kotono> The door opens. Ahead is a blurriness and then? Shallows. Ocean. A foul, stinking ocean over an endless blanks ky above. A few small, scattered islands. In the ocean great clogs and blobs of ooze writhe, floating about. No trees or grass grows on the islands, only dead, empty stone.
20:29 <Devar> Devar frowns. He could get very lost if he heads this way. He shuts the door and will go try the stairs. OOC: would a 22 on K:P tell me that this is likely Ooze itself or nearby it on a planar scale?
20:33 ↔ Devar nipped out
23:01 <•Kotono> OOC: Based on your K:P roll, you suspect it's a portal ofs ome kind. You aren't sure where precisely, but it doesn't look like pure Earth or Water.
23:02 <Devar> OOC: Okay. Mental note for the future then!
23:02 <Devar> Devar will still shut the door and go check the stairs.
23:04 <•Kotono> The stairs are a spiral staircase plunging down, the walls around them wet, jiggly mud. Little splatters of mud stain the stairs and give it a certain slickness.
23:06 <Devar> He might not be able to get back up if he tries, so for now he'll leave this alone and head back outside the hut. He can fly back and borrow Skaya's belt later. He'll make a mental note of where the hut is and resume flying past it!
23:08 <•Kotono> Devar takes to the air and flies onward. It's not too much farther until a mud-caked wall is seen, stretching farther than you cans ee in either direction. Half hidden, but not too hard to notice since you're looking, is a wooden door.
23:09 <Devar> He will fly down and open the door!
23:11 <•Kotono> The door opens to reveal another vast, empty room with mud and more mud, a downright sea of mud. This mud has a greenish-brown tint to it and boils faster, a truly vile stench coming from it. In the far distance you can see some manner of hill that rises out of the mud.
23:12 <Devar> Thankfully he can fly - and he does, well over all of this awful substance, whatever it is. He heads towards the hill!
23:18 <•Kotono> You approach the hill. As you do, you see crumbling pillars support the remnants of a roof.  Several pedestals survive, some empty but some with objects on them. They're covered but ratty, dirty cloths, once white and now deeply stained green-brown. Standing guard over them is one figure. It a creature of mud clad in armor, only the tiny gaps in it giving you a glimpse of it's muddy nature,
23:18 <•Kotono> as well as its open faced helmet. In both hands it wields a greataxe. It's gaze is already on you, it does not seem surprised.
23:20 <Devar> "Are you the one known as the knight of the diseases?" Devar asks as he comes closer, flying above about 35ft away.
23:22 <•Kotono> In your mind is a feather-light whisper, that makes your skin break out in goosebumps. 'I am. You are Devar.'
23:23 <Devar> "Have I come here before?" He asks. "Or do you know me through something else?"
23:26 <•Kotono> 'The master and creator of this place is a thing of possibilities.' The knight does not move or react in the slightest, yet watches you all the while. 'My master's whisper has spoken of your names.'
23:27 <Devar> "Were you created by the master of this place?" Devar asks. "We've met many elementals but also people who seem to live here who came from outside this place."
23:30 <•Kotono> 'It does not matter. For my task when I was brought here was to slay any who are not of Ooze. That my master's wishes align with this is merely...' The slightest dip of its axe forward, '...an enjoyable bonus. Do not think your shield against disease will save you, Devar.' Beneath you the mud begins to boil faster, whirlpools of it starting all around. 'I shall cast your broken corpse into
23:30 <•Kotono> Ooze and entomb your treasures here!' OOC: I think you're reached the end of productive discussion, also known as he's throwning downa t you. Init.
23:31 <Devar> roll 1d20+2
23:31 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+2 --> [ 1d20=2 ]{4}
23:31 <•Kotono> roll 1d20+5
23:31 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d20+5 --> [ 1d20=8 ]{13}
23:31 <•Kotono> Init is Knight Of Disease (13) > Devar (4)
23:33 <•Kotono> Whirling and welling up, a pillar of mud erupts up at Devar! OOC: Ref. Being airborn helps at least with a +2 bonus.
23:33 <Devar> roll 1d20+13 evasion
23:33 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+13 evasion --> [ 1d20=20 ]{33}
23:34 <•Kotono> Devar jukes back, an instinctive defensive maneuver as he dodges the mud. It splatters near him but is a miss, blocking your immediate view of the Knight of Disease, but nothing more. Whew. OOC: Go.
23:35 <Devar> There's really nothing stopping him from just flying up higher... so he does that very thing, going up another 50 feet to try something. He summons Storm's Eye and launches lightning down at the Knight of Disease!
23:36 <Devar> roll 5d8 elec damage, ref DC 20
23:36 <Kobot> Devar rolled 5d8 elec damage, ref DC 20 --> [ 5d8=23 ]{23}
23:36 <Devar> OOC: Oh, that's assuming flying up higher lets me see him, sorry.
23:36 <Devar> OOC: If not I will fly up and around the goopy mud.
23:37 <•Kotono> OOC: There is a roof, another 20ft up, for what it's worth.
23:37 <•Kotono> roll 1d20+8
23:37 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d20+8 --> [ 1d20=4 ]{12}
23:38 <Devar> OOC: Roger that
23:38 <•Kotono> With a cry as Storm's Eye uses its power up for the moment, it cries, "For Devar and his lovely ladies!" it cackles, as the knight is hit. It'ts knocked back, lightning dancing across its armor and mud boiling within its frame. Not that it stops it, a hiss of pain in your mind. Then the mud rises, rises fast and faster and arcs towards you, trying to get you even at this height, raw
23:38 <•Kotono> shotgun-like blasts of it. OOC: Ref again.
23:39 <Devar> So he can't outrange it up, good to know!
23:39 <Devar> roll 1d20+13 evasion
23:39 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+13 evasion --> [ 1d20=17 ]{30}
23:41 <•Kotono> Another deft dodge. Splatters are evaded - as is a sudden surge up from behind, a tendril of mud that whips at you. but you dodge that too, flying around wildly. OOC: Go.
23:42 → Iddy joined (uid408070@lunarnet-423F0355.irccloud.com)
23:43 <Devar> "You know, I could just fly away and wait for my spear to recharge and keep hitting you from a distance!" Devar calls out. "But I feel like that isn't the spirit of this encounter, so..." He flies around, back to get closer - still about 40 feet away. If the creature is made of mud, maybe something like ice would...? With that, he throws an icy dagger down at the Knight!
23:43 <Devar> roll 1d20+7 touch ac
23:43 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+7 touch ac --> [ 1d20=1 ]{8}
23:44 <Devar> OOC: So that's a miss but in theory I'll still roll the damage on it in case it does anything to the mud around him?
23:44 <•Kotono> OOC: Sure. Can't really miss the mud.
23:44 <Devar> roll 3d4 cold damage and it does 1 cold damage as a splash around it for whatever that matters here.
23:44 <Kobot> Devar rolled 3d4 cold damage and it does 1 cold damage as a splash around it for whatever that matters here. --> [ 3d4=9 ]{9}
23:46 <•Kotono> It's a total miss - it flies wide entirely, but a patch of mud is now a frozen slurry. The knight continues his vigil, as the mud erupts out at you, lashes out at you. Splatters and balls thrown, tendrils and whips of it heading your way. Dodge! OOC: Ref again.
23:46 <Devar> roll 1d20+13 evasion
23:46 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+13 evasion --> [ 1d20=5 ]{18}
23:46 <•Kotono> roll 4d6 counts as acid damage
23:46 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 4d6 counts as acid damage --> [ 4d6=15 ]{15}
23:47 <•Kotono> OOC: Let me know if that all gets through or if you have any acid res.
23:47 <Devar> OOC: I've got 5, so 10 damage total.
23:48 <Devar> OOC: You'll have to op me here or in #dunes and I can update the HP accordingly
23:49 <•Kotono> OOC: Go ahead in #dunes.
23:49 <Devar> OOC: Oh, does DR count? If it does then it's 5 damage.
23:49 <•Kotono> OOC: It does not.
23:49 <Devar> OOC: Okay.
23:50 <•Kotono> Pain. The mud burns and sears your skin whereever it hits, hissing against your clothes. Raw acid, the muck nothing but. It's still roiling as you dodge, but you hold on as you're hit and a void a tailspin, then....OOC: Go.
23:51 <Devar> Will he have better luck with the axe he's holding? Well, may as well test it! He flies in and takes a swing with Treant's Wrath!
23:51 <Devar> roll 1d20+9 bonk
23:51 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+9 bonk --> [ 1d20=18 ]{27}
23:51 <Devar> roll 1d8+4 bonk bonk
23:51 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d8+4 bonk bonk --> [ 1d8=8 ]{12}
23:51 <Devar> "If it's a fight between knights who've sworn an oath, then a fight you shall have!" He shouts!
23:52 <•Kotono> A solid blow, right into the knight's shoulder. A good hit, mud splattered out as you engage in melee. A grunt but nothing more, as with a mental shout, 'A glorious battle to the death!' as he brings down his axe.
23:52 <•Kotono> roll 1d20+10 (-2 PA)
23:52 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d20+10 (-2 PA) --> [ 1d20=4 ]{14}
23:53 <•Kotono> It's a big, heavy swing that misses, his momentum all wrong as the mud around you slows down, boiling but no longer coming right at you. He's open, at least for a moment as...OOC: Go.
23:54 <Devar> OOC: Mechanics question - is at-will detect evil a standard action?
23:55 <•Kotono> OOC: Yes. Bear in mind it takes 3 rounds to get allt he info, not usually relevant but it's not usually a combat spell.
23:55 <Devar> OOC: Yeah, no worries
23:55 <Devar> He's not sure if his thing even counts as evil, but given what he's up against, no reason to not try, so he swings again with his warhammer, imbued with the power of Eldath!
23:56 <Devar> roll 1d20+9+7 smited bonk
23:56 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+9+7 smited bonk --> [ 1d20=8 ]{24}
23:56 <Devar> OOC: So if it isn't evil then that's 17 in case that misses under those circumstances
23:56 <•Kotono> OOC: Smite counts, it's a hit.
23:57 <Devar> roll 1d8+4+5 smited bonk bonk
23:57 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d8+4+5 smited bonk bonk --> [ 1d8=5 ]{14}
23:57 <•Kotono> Another solid hit knocks the knight back hard. You cut deeper into the muddy body as it stays up, a snarl before it makes one massive blow, right at you!
23:57 <•Kotono> roll 1d20+16 (+4 smite)
23:57 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d20+16 (+4 smite) --> [ 1d20=19 ]{35}
23:58 <Devar> OOC: I don't have any tricks that could get above 35
23:59 <•Kotono> roll 1d12+16 almost a crit and greataxe crits hurt
23:59 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d12+16 almost a crit and greataxe crits hurt --> [ 1d12=10 ]{26}
23:59 <Devar> OOC: 21 total
Wednesday, November 27th, 2024
00:00 <•Kotono> Traded blows, traded smites. Its muddy body ist orn as your side feels the greataxe bite deeply into it. It drips diseased filth from it, only your protections against disease stopping a terrible fate. While it does not bleed, it sags, even as your side now bleeds freely. OOC: Ow, but you're still up. Go.
00:02 <Devar> "You have my respect - not as a knight of disease, but of as a knight of Ooze." Devar says. He can still respect his enemy. For now, he will patch himself back up, an unlucky strike could take him out! OOC: Lay on hands for 31.
00:03 <•Kotono> 'Then respect me when your head lies at my feet!"' Is the challenge back as you heal, another heavy, massive swing right at Devar!
00:03 <•Kotono> roll 1d20+16 (+4 smite number two)
00:03 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d20+16 (+4 smite number two) --> [ 1d20=3 ]{19}
00:03 <•Kotono> This time, however, Devar is ready and jukes aside, the empowered strike missing entirely. Not by much, but it's enough, as...OIOC: Go.
00:04 <Devar> No more words are needed, Devar goes in again with his warhammer!
00:04 <Devar> roll 1d20+9+7 smited bonk
00:04 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+9+7 smited bonk --> [ 1d20=16 ]{32}
00:04 <Devar> roll 1d8+4+5 smited bonk bonk
00:04 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d8+4+5 smited bonk bonk --> [ 1d8=2 ]{11}
00:05 <•Kotono> The heavy blow knocks the knight back, an impact on its chestplate. It staggers badly, almost knocked to a knee. It coughs up pure mud before it counters back, the duel continuing!
00:05 <•Kotono> roll 1d20+12 really crit fishing here
00:05 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d20+12 really crit fishing here --> [ 1d20=2 ]{14}
00:06 <•Kotono> Wounded as it is, the knight's swing is weaker, feeble, easilys idestepped. It leaves the warrior open, struggling to match you for one crucial moment. OOC:G o.
00:07 <Devar> Devar swings again - there's no way it will yield, it probably can't. He prays to Eldath to bring peace to it.
00:07 <Devar> roll 1d20+9 no more smited bonk
00:07 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+9 no more smited bonk --> [ 1d20=14 ]{23}
00:07 <Devar> roll 1d8+4 no more smited bonk bonk
00:07 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d8+4 no more smited bonk bonk --> [ 1d8=5 ]{9}
00:09 <•Kotono> It's not much of a blow, but it's enough. A hit to the head collapses it, the ooze alla round stilling. The mud runs out of the armor, leaving only terribly stained greataxe and armor behind. Whew.
00:09 <Devar> "You're still here, aren't you?" Devar asks, as if the mud will just reform. "Can you go back to Ooze now that your duty is fulfilled?"
00:10 <•Kotono> Silence.
00:11 <Devar> "I pray that you make it home." Devar says. He leans down to put the two items into his Haversake and flies up to look at what's on the other pedestals now that there's nothing stopping him from doing so.
00:29 <•Kotono> With the cloths removed, you find a few objects. The first is a well made breastplate and armor, along with accessories for such. Smooth, polished steel. It gleams and is untouched by the filth here. The second is a heavy mace, with the same shine and steely look of the armor. There's also one more thing - a golden pendant with a large orange gemstone set into it.
00:30 <Devar> Well, he has the time, so he may as well identify everything. OOC: Identify these objects + the oozy armor and greataxe. Loot! Loot! Loot! Loot!
00:31 <•Kotono> OOC: To loot.
00:31 <•Kotono> OOC: This'll be a bit so we'll stop here, though I'll get the IDs up once the dog calms down. Sec, think she needs something the way she's going on.

19:54 <Skaya> Upstairs it is!
19:55 <•Kotono> Once upstairs, Anne rests and sits. Sanda and Rina join her, the three taking an unspoken chance to rest. "Could you bring out some food?" Rina suggests. "Best to eat while we have a free chance."
19:56 <•Kotono> Putting her shield and mace down, sitting back and looking up, "I'm not the best versed in planar affairs, but isn't something to do with Earth and Water make filfth, muck, ooze or whatever it is? I confess I can never keep all the lesser elemental planes straight, only the two planes of life and death interwine with them. I think."
19:57 <•Kotono> *intertwine
19:57 — Skaya quite helpfully retrieves the perishable foods first. They can eat jerky later.
19:57 <Skaya> "I'm not sure where all the disease came from, but luckily I don't need to know. Another timeline's Starre looked it up for us and Devar is going for the prize as we eat."
19:58 <•Kotono> Sanda nabs some fresh fruit and has a bite before, "Something like that, Anne. Better Devar than us."
19:59 <•Kotono> With an almost giggle Anne smiles openly, "Let the big, strong man do the heavy lifting, only writ large ina n adventure."
20:00 <•Kotono> "Better we not know," Rina says, "I've already learned more than I wanted to know here." She nibbles on some food, going for bread. "About far too many strange things."
20:02 <•Kotono> "As have I," Anne agrees, "Though at least we avoided becoming Ice's pet humans."
20:02 <•Kotono> "Skaya would make a good cat-alike for Ice," Rina's smiling as well now, "What a strange creature."
20:03 <Skaya> "Daily reminder I'm actually stronger than Devar," Skaya idly notes. "As for Ice, I don't mind a cat-like form but I'd prefer a unique name."
20:04 <•Kotono> "That's not it at all," Anne waves that off, "Don't tell me you've never wanted a big, strong man to take care of you, Sk-" she stops at that and ruefully chuckles, "No, I suppose you haven't. Silly me."
20:05 <•Kotono> "Like Skaya's not unique enough or ICe isn't unique enough a name?" Sanda asks. "I think Skaya's very unique."
20:06 <Skaya> "Skaya is unique but all their names were Ice. I don't want one for myself," Skaya insists to Sanda. At Anne's words, she shrugs. "I never really wanted someone to take care of me, no. I like to travel where the mood takes me, so that wouldn't have worked."
20:09 <•Kotono> "You're so independent," Rina says, "So strong, Skaya."
20:10 <•Kotono> "You could always find someone to travel with you who fulfills that," Anne points out with no energy behind it. Instead she waves it off, "Still though, even the most coddled traveler has to depend ont hemselves ag reat deal."
20:11 <•Kotono> "A helper at the guild as well as a hero," Sanda reflects, "By the odds of it, it's unlikely to fulfill both, but here Skaya is."
20:11 <Skaya> "Ah, I wonder if I'll end up going back at this rate," Skaya muses.
20:13 <•Kotono> "It'll be hard to go back after all of this," Rina looks past all of you, "Once Brachidos is dead and we've made names for ourselves, it'll be hard to slip back into day to day work. I've already decided I don't want to. Not without Regis, I'd see his shadow over my shoulder every day."
20:14 <•Kotono> "Separation may be healthiest," Anne looks over to Rina, "I understand. Once I return to the orphanage, that same separation will make it easier for me to return to that life, rather than see the dangers of  travel and adventure in every day life."
20:15 <•Kotono> "Do you see all of this in the same way as...?" Sanda stops, but figuratively bites her tongue, stops.
20:16 <•Kotono> "It's dangerous, it's dirty and the only reward wed may get for it is our final reward past this life. We might never see Mellanics again," Anne goes on, "It's not liket hat, but I understand. That's all."
20:16 <•Kotono> *it's not like Regis and Rina
20:16 <Skaya> "I'm struggling with the same thought. And Rina and I have that nasty noble after us...." Skaya shrugs. "Actually, it might be easiest for Anne and Sanda, here? We'll probably be able to either teleport back and forth with a thought or afford an artifact allowing it."
20:17 <•Kotono> "If I grow that far..." Anne murmurs, then shakes her head, "If I grow that mighty, far mightier than I imagine we will? Then I may well be called to leave my quiet matron's life behind. Any woman can be a matron, but few can wield that power."
20:18 <•Kotono> "Teleportation is a fifth circle spell," Sanda points out, "We're only on the third circle, so let's not get ahead of ourselves."
20:18 <Skaya> "We'll get there," Skaya asserts. "Did you forget? Brachidos is there already. It makes sense that we would need to do that much as we catch up."
20:19 <•Kotono> "So what? All the magic in the world won't save him from a sword through the heart," Rina says, darkly, "Preferably int he dark, with surprise and with no chance for him to beg for his worthless life."
20:19 <•Kotono> "The trick is getting to that point," Sanda's voice is try. "But I admit our odds are improving."
20:21 <Skaya> "Right? Three or four more mysterious ruins and we'll be much stronger!"
20:23 <•Kotono> "Ah. When Moore and the others campaigned against Shar and her minions, did they face the same danger and odds?" Anne reflects aloud, "Or did her allies?"
20:23 <•Kotono> "Hopefully less ruins like that and no Sharran ruins," Rina adds, "Enough of that."
20:23 <•Kotono> *like this
20:24 <Skaya> "Anything truly worth doing is forced to deal with impossible odds, wouldn't you say?" Skaya voices, looking the others over one at a time. "Because otherwise, someone would've casually done it already."

19:06 <•Kotono> A little lull in the chat at that as everyone eats. After that, "I wonder how Devar's doing?" Sanda murmurs.
19:07 <Skaya> "His success is guaranteed," Skaya responds. "Wish I could've been there, though."
19:13 <•Kotono> "Me too," Rina admits, "Until I saw that mud. I didn't really want to go through that."
19:14 <•Kotono> "The same, I confess," Anne glances over at the stairs, "And as I said, it's nice to have a man take care of things, sometimes." A sigh, "I took a vow of chastity unless I find a man I wish to wed. It hadn't bothered me overly so at the orphanage, but perhaps being an adventuress gets my blood up."
19:14 <Skaya> "Well yes. I never knew it was so easy to fly. Had I known, I would've spent time learning how."
19:14 <•Kotono> Sanda chuckles, "It's a good spell, but Devar went bird on us. What are the odds?"
19:15 <Skaya> "I know right!" Skaya exclaims, throwing her hands up in the air.
19:15 <•Kotono> "Exactly!" Sanda agrees, stronger. "Who predicted Devar would sprout wings and learn to fly after all of this?"
19:16 <•Kotono> "Wizards, clerics, all of them. Their ways are not the ways of the normal," Rina remarks, "No offense."
19:17 <Skaya> "Should I follow his footsteps? I haven't really found a deity that speaks to me, but Tymora or Donald would work in a pinch."
19:19 <•Kotono> Sanda starts to sigh as Anne speaks over that, "I'd be happy to preach Moore's ways to you, and the ways of the others of Hope's Landing. I'm sure one would resonate with you."
19:21 <Skaya> "Okay, sell it to me," Skaya says as she turns towards Anne. "Whose personality is like mine?"
19:26 <•Kotono> Rina settles into listen, and in thought, "Lady Sylvie comes right to mind. She's independent, fiercely intelligent and independent. She doesn't take followers, but her example cannot be denied. She is a master of all, jack of none. She was once part of the Aurora and participated in the defeat of Shar. But as I said, she doesn't take followers." A little frown at that, "Why Lord Moore tolerates
19:26 <•Kotono> this I know not, but not a word against it is spoken in our texts. Of course you know of Lady Jetina, hail and strong, the healer. Not a fit to you perhaps, but none of us can deny the need for healing after what we've been though. Her devoted nature towards the recovery of others is an example we can all follow. Oh, and of course there's Cresiel - no title, as he dislikes such, but he is the
19:26 <•Kotono> stern ever-guardian. With one hand he crushes evil and the other he protects all the innocent. Then Xandra, she who sees the stars and the future, who looks higher towards the light. A great mage who has vast amounts of magic, and see tomorrow as she does yesterday. And of course, Kaja, the fearsome golden dragon-man. Before his twin blades nothing can stand."
19:27 <•Kotono> Sanda listens along to this politely, before, "Statistically speaking, wouldn't Lady Jetina be sensible? Then again, you are already good at healing."
19:28 <•Kotono> In the distance, echoing but loud enough to carry far, is the sound of several titanic impacts. Rina's next words die in her throat as she scrambles up, Anne going for her shield and mace as she scrambles.
19:29 <Skaya> "Well, I can't really follow someone who doesn't want to be followed, I'm not some stalker," Skaya says at length. "I don't really think the others work." At the noise, she perks up! There must be imminent violence!
19:30 <•Kotono> As everyone readies themselves, nothing else immediately happens, "What is Devar doing down there?" Rina asks, "That sounded like all the summer storms lashing out!"
19:31 <Skaya> "Hopefully, he's fighting rather than courting something over there."
19:39 <•Kotono> "
19:39 <•Kotono> "Courting?!" Rina coughs.
19:39 <•Kotono> "Well, statistically speakinghe's probably fighting, running or...you know. The odds always catch up sooner or later." Sanda comments.
19:40 <Skaya> "You never know~"

19:07 <•Kotono> With the knowledge of these weapons now in hand, Devar...OOC: Go ahead, identifications complted last night.
19:08 <Devar> Devar is going to fly back to the hut he found earlier, curious about something. His intent is to go to the door he could not open before and see if it opens now - and if not, he'll take out the gemstone pendant he found and see if it reacts. It didn't seem to be magical, but not being magical doesn't mean much in a place like this...
19:08 <•Kotono> roll 1d100
19:08 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d100 --> [ 1d100=26 ]{26}
19:08 <•Kotono> Devar returns to the door without incident. It is still shut closed and the pendant has no obvious reaction to it at all.
19:09 <Devar> OOC: Is it a door door or a mud-like door? I.e. does it have hinges and such?
19:10 <•Kotono> This is a door of mud, solid and with no gaps.
19:11 <Devar> Devar tries just hitting it as hard as he can with his mace on the gaps on the sides, curious if it will have any impact or if it's like the ice they found before.
19:11 <Devar> roll 1d20+9 bonking mud
19:11 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+9 bonking mud --> [ 1d20=11 ]{20}

19:15 <•Kotono> The door does not budge.
19:16 <Devar> "What am I supposed to do to open this door?" Devar asks, as if the room will respond in some way.
19:18 <•Kotono> There is no response. Perhaps that's just as well with how this place is, and the dangers it poses.
19:19 <Devar> Devar decides to check around the room, just to be safe - maybe there's something under all the bones?
19:19 <Devar> roll 1d20+8 Perception
19:19 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+8 Perception --> [ 1d20=17 ]{25}
19:20 <•Kotono> Nothing that you find, except dirt, mud and oddly, a single smooth sphere. It's tiny and pitch black, glossy stone polished to a mirror sheen. It feels ice cold in your hand.
19:21 <Devar> Is it magical?! OOC: detect magic and identify! Tell me your secrets, little sphere!
19:26 <•Kotono> No magic.
19:27 <Devar> He goes over and presses it against the mud door! Puzzles aren't really his forte, but there's no harm in trying.
19:28 <•Kotono> Nothing happens- until a loud banging from the other side shakes the entire mud hut. It's loud as a thunderclap, several pounding impacts.
19:29 <Devar> Woah! He jumps back at that. "Hello?" He calls out, but does move towards the door that leads out of the hut, just in case.
19:30 <•Kotono> The door rattles, shaken - but does not budge, nor move.
19:31 <Devar> He decides to grab the sphere off the door and make an exit for now - he can explain it to the others. Assuming nothing else is waiting outside the hut, he will head back!
19:31 <•Kotono> Sphere taken, a tactical retreat. Flying back and...OOC: More ,moving you to #dunes unless you roll soemthing here.

19:41 <•Kotono> "I don't even want to know how-" Anne begins, but then Devar emerges up, intact and safe.
19:41 <•Kotono> "There yo uare," Rina turns, "You're alright?"
19:41 <Skaya> "Welcome back! I believed in you!"
19:43 <Devar> "Yes, just fine." He says, coming up the stairs. "I don't know what that noise was about, but I know where it came from." He says. "I've come bearing gifts as well as some awful things that I don't know what we do with." He takes out the small sphere and tosses it to Skaya. "I found that in one of the rooms - there's a hut that has duplicating doors that looks like it leads... somewhere. There's
19:43 <Devar> a door that I think leads to the plane that meets Earth and Water - it looked awful, even worse than down there." He waves his hand down the stairs. "When I put that sphere in a door that wouldn't open, that massive sound and banging happened, so... I don't know if we want to deal with that or leave it alone."
19:44 <Skaya> "What were the diseases? Now that you've been there, I could tell if I'll survive them!"
19:47 <Devar> "As far as I can tell it isn't magical, but it's so cold... maybe it's a key to go in the Ice place." He suggests. "Uh... good question, the Knight's were... definitely magical and extremely awful-looking. As for the air itself around there? Uh..." OOC: Would a Heal check give me any idea if the air itself seemed to have magical diseases or just... regular ones? I'm not sure what would be
19:47 <Devar> appropriate here.
19:48 <Skaya> "At the very least, if I can go to that room with the knocking, we should be able to take whatever is there down," Skaya voices, tossing the sphere up and catching it.
19:48 <•Kotono> OOC: Way beyond your skill level. Maybe an epic level usage could puzzle it out just from being in the air, but that's outside your grasp.
19:49 <•Kotono> "What else did you find. Any treasure?" Rina asks, "That was the entire point of the trip."
19:49 <Devar> "I can't promise it's safe for you." He admits after some thought. "It... probably is? I mean I think you'd know pretty quickly."
19:51 <Skaya> "I guess if you got the treasure as Rina asked, there's no need to bother?"
19:51 <Devar> "Right." He says to Rina as he digs out the awful disease armor. "Do not put this on. Under any circumstances." He goes on to explain the Armor of Diseases to the rest of them. "Honestly, I'd rather just give this and the weapon to the Ooze people in trade, because it isn't worth it." He will show them Choked Whisper - thankfully safe from it giving himself a disease that could hurt the rest of
19:51 <Devar> them rather terribly.
19:51 <Devar> "I honestly would feel bad even trying to sell these, they're so absolutely terrible." He adds.
19:52 <•Kotono> On hearing the description, Anne visibly recoils, "And you took that rather than smite it where it stands? If you tried to sell it, I'd hope the High Reeve would have you thrown in prison for it! That axe int he hands of someone like Brachidos, or even someone whod oesn't know better, could be a disaster!"
19:53 <Skaya> "It doesn't sound like treasure," Skaya agrees. "Maybe if we sacrifice it to Mystra she'll burn it in fire?"
19:53 <•Kotono> "Cleansing fire," Anne agrees.
19:53 <Skaya> "Magical cleansing fire."
19:54 <Devar> "I ran out of those dealing with the Knight." Devar says rather apologetically. "But it was better to take them than leave them - like I said, I think we're better off offering them to them downstairs in some sort of exchange if they're willing. At least then it's serving some good purpose. Now, the other things..." He digs out the gemstone pendant and tosses it to Skaya. "Also not magical, but
19:54 <Devar> I feel like it's got to do something."
19:54 <•Kotono> "Cleansing fire," Rina seconds, "Holy magical cleansing fire."
19:54 — Skaya starts juggling the pendant and the sphere. "Any other mystery gifts for me?"
19:56 <Devar> "If you all want to just burn it with fire that's fine too." He says, digging out the real prizes - Oathstrike and Oathplate. He will give another explanation about what they do - omitting one particular part about the never lying. He leans over to Anne to whisper to her something. "There is one more thing - there was a staircase I didn't explore, if you want me to I'd like to borrow that belt
19:56 <Devar> of yours Skaya, it was all slippery mud and I've had enough injuries to my pride to know to ask for some help."
19:57 <Skaya> "I don't mind," Skaya says, storing the gifts away and taking off her belt to offer it to Devar.
19:59 <•Kotono> Anne takes the new weapon and armor, "Oathstrike and Oathplate," she muses, hefting them both. "Thank you." A slight nod back to Devar.
19:59 <Devar> Devar will take it and put it on! "If you all want to see if the denizens downstairs want the two awful disease items while I'm gone, that's fine, I'm also fine just waiting till we get back and destroying them." He stands up. "I'll be back shortly!" He says while he heads back down the stairs and back towards the hut from earlier - this time protected form any injuries to himself and his pride!
20:01 <•Kotono> OOC: Back to #evil, Devar.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

20:02 <•Kotono> Once Devar's gone, "One thing. Devar said this to me in confidence, but I trust all of you to speak frankly." Anne says, "The wearer or Oathplate or the wielder of Oathstrike has one additional limitation: They cannot lie. Not that I make a habit of lies in the slightest, it is a matter to be considered. Particularly with how strong the compulsion is, and if it merely requires truth to be
20:02 <•Kotono> spoken, or forces it past silence, evasions and refusals tos peak."
20:06 <Skaya> "You made a good call, here. It's not something you could cover up for long, and better to learn how it works quickly. Want to put the armor on? Or just pick up the Oathstrike and answer some fun questions while Devar is away?"
20:08 <•Kotono> Oathstrike is picked up. "Ask away," Anne asks.
20:09 <Skaya> "I'll dive right in, then! What's the deal with all the recent talk about strong, burly men?"
20:13 <•Kotono> A blink at that, "As I said, the life of adventure stirs me. I'm at an age to marry, and I made a point not to rule it out when I took my vows. Haven't you ever imagined a family of your own, Skaya?" Then after, "I'm fairly certain Icould have resisted that and stayed silent." Coughing and clearing her throat, a dusting of red on her cheeks, "You speak as if most ladies don't dream of a man to
20:13 <•Kotono> sweep them off their feet."
20:14 <•Kotono> Rina smiles a little bit, "Yeah, maybe one day," she agrees. "Got something more important right now."
20:15 <Skaya> "A man, yes. But big and strong is quite specific traits!" Skaya insists, as she eyes Oathstrike. That would make a great baton to pass around at a drinking game! "Out of curiosity, what's your marriable age range, in your mind? It clearly opened, but where do you see it closing?":
20:16 <•Kotono> "It doesn't, though few old maids will be so fortunate as to find their love at that point. But I've even heard of old widows remarrying to spend what little time they have left in this life with another." Anne says, "I have to wonder, why do you ask?"
20:17 <•Kotono> Sanda, perhaps out of a strange sense of mercy, stays quiet so far.
20:21 <Skaya> "Because you've talked about it a lot recently," Skaya responds with a shrug. "And alternate timeline you was upset with me over being reckless, so I wondered what you were thinking about. Besides, it's not a terrible topic, it's not like I asked you who your bestie is or what you really think about Sanda."
20:22 <•Kotono> "I worry about you, Skaya. I'm the one who has to heal your hurts," Anne's voice is gentle, as she side eyes Sanda as she speaks. Sanda politely coughs and looks away. "I can see how that would turn to upset and anger."
20:23 <•Kotono> "Are you alright with this?" Rina speaks up, "If you want to put down the mace, yo udon't have to keep answering."
20:24 <Skaya> "Nah, just put the armor on," Skaya says instead. "I think we've learned how this thing works and it's not a huge compulsion by the looks of it. We'll only ask one more question after to see if having both makes it worse, but it's not like I have more to bug you about."
20:24 <•Kotono> "I'm already not supposed to lie as it is, I'm supposed to live as an example. So long as I don't have to speak, I care not." Anne answers back, "I probably would have said these things if asked properly, but it's as if I simply speak without any desire to hide what It hink once I commit to speech."
20:25 <•Kotono> Anne then puts the mace down nonetheless. "Ah. It's subtle, but it's there. I wonder if a spell to shield my mind would stop it?" she muses aloud.
20:26 <Skaya> "Wouldn't that ruin the concept?" Skaya muses. "They power up if you serve a righteous deity, don't they? Perhaps it's a bundle."
20:26 — Skaya picks the mace herself, then. "Ooh! Let's waste some time till Devar returns. Ask me anything!"
20:28 <•Kotono> With a slightly amused smile, Anne crosses her arms and asks, "Since I did promise you dinner once we're out of here, what do you want?"
20:28 <•Kotono> "What's your opinion of Welland?" Sanda asks, "As well as the mess that's brewing back at home with a possible war?"
20:29 <•Kotono> Rina hums, "Do you think we can stop Brachidos as we are now?"
20:33 <Skaya> "I want a seafood spaghetti dish if possible, but what I'd really want is to try the local teas at a nice teashop after," Skaya responds to Anne.
20:34 <Skaya> At Sanda's question, she shrugs. "I don't really care about Welland one way or the other, but I do care about some of the people of Welland. As for Laremy, it's the exact same thing. I generally don't want to see anyone I know or their neighbors suffer. I already asked our hosts to use their diplomatic power to try and delay the war if not stop it altogether, so I think that's the best I can do short of producing proof it was caused by
20:34 <Skaya> a third party. Since I believe that it was, and that it has to do with Brachidos, I'm not going to change my actions for now."
20:34 <Skaya> Rina's question gets her to think the longest. "I wouldn't have lead us here if I didn't feel we had a chance, but at this point in time? I think we'll end up stronger by the time we face off against him, given our progress after setting off from Mellanics."
20:51 <•Kotono> "Seafood is plentiful enough in Welland," Anne muses, "Certainly."
20:52 <•Kotono> "In time," Rina muses, "We are making progress, aren't we?"
20:54 <Skaya> "We are," Skaya affirms. "We're getting strong enough to brute-force the issue before long, but our investigative powers are less impressive than I expected. That's mostly on me. Sorry."
20:55 <•Kotono> "I hope Brachidos isn't improving as well," Anne murmurs.
20:56 <•Kotono> "We're getting better there, too," Rina counters.
20:56 <Skaya> "The speed of improvement does tend to slow down the stronger you get. I like our chances against him more and more the longer it is. But I want to catch him as soon as possible."
20:59 Devar set the topic: Skaya: 42/42 Devar 50/57 (-1 str) Anne 46/60 Sanda 39/39 Rina 57/57  Difficult terrain
21:02 <•Kotono> "Soon enough," Rina agrees, going quiet in thought.
21:03 — Skaya offers the mace to Sanda with a grin.
21:03 <•Kotono> At the lull in the conversation, Sanda eyes the mace. "May I-oh!" she takes it, "Ask away!"
21:03 <•Kotono> OOC: Read my mind.
21:03 <Skaya> "Same as me, you love how we often think alike, right?" Skaya jumps right in.
21:03 <•Kotono> Anne smiles gently but doesn't say a word.
21:04 <•Kotono> "Of course, but statistically speaking, we have a high compatibility," Sanda explains, "That's also obvious."
21:05 <•Kotono> "How is that statistical?" Rina murmurs, confused. "Isn't that like percentages and those difficult math things scholars learn?"
21:05 <•Kotono> With a sniff, "Clearly Mellanics education leaves something to be desired."
21:06 <Skaya> "You don't have to answer if you want to keep the mystique, but you're clearly fucking with us sometimes when you talk about statistics, aren't you?"
21:06 <•Kotono> Rina turns red at that, "I'm not stupid!"
21:07 <•Kotono> Sanda smiles even more, "By the odds, I think you're the most interesting out of us. Anne's too boring and restrained, and Rina's still not right after what happened."
21:07 <•Kotono> Anne's jaw clenches. "If I'm boring, then the world runs on boring mothers who tend to children and boring healers who tend to the injured."
21:08 <Skaya> On the one hand, Sanda is being insulting. On the other hand, they all know Sanda. Is this even a revelation at this point? Apparently so! That's the true shocker, here.
21:08 <Skaya> "Hey, why did you agree to travel with me on this journey? Was it because I was fun? Or something else?"
21:09 <•Kotono> "You're fun to be around and you're the first close friend I made in awhile, and the money was too good," Sanda answers, "And the chances to advance my magic, and to see such strange places."
21:10 <•Kotono> Ignored, Anne quietly stews, arms crossed and scowling. She gives Sanda a less than pleased look.
21:10 <Skaya> "Were you tempted by the offer to learn powerful ice magics, then?"
21:10 <•Kotono> "The money is good, and that's sweet," Rina speaks up, ignoring the glare int he room. "Deadly danger forges fast friendships."
21:16 — Skaya sidles up to Anne as she waits for Sanda to answer, throwing an arm across her shoulders. "You run an orphanage," she tells her bluntly, grinning to take away the sting her tone might otherwise leave. "You deal with stubborn kids all the time. I refuse to believe there's a type you haven't run across before, so why do you get so triggered by Sanda? Is she seriously the first person to call you boring?"
21:19 <•Kotono> "No, it took too long," Sanda says, watching Anne as you speak to her.
21:20 <•Kotono> "Hmph," Anne slides out of your grasp, "Statistically speaking," she says, "Some people don't get along."
21:20 <•Kotono> "Statistically speaking, some people are stuck up," Sanda banters back, grasping the mace tighter.
21:21 <Skaya> "I know, right? Decades is super fast for elementals but you'll be an archmage long before that. And I think it's time for Rina to get the mace."
21:21 <•Kotono> "Statistically speaking," Anne drawls now, "Some people have the intelligence of a genius, the self preservation of an ant and the the charm of a rusty pole."
21:21 <•Kotono> Your words go unanswered as Rina watches, carefully giving them a bit of distance.
21:22 <•Kotono> "Yes, some of us are just shopkeepers rather than important matrons and healers who do it all and look down on anyone who doesn't keep up with them," No statistics this time, only tight words.
21:23 <Skaya> "I can't shake the feeling that they're into each other whenever they get really mean like that," Skaya admits quietly to Rina after drifting over to her side.
21:24 <•Kotono> Anne's eyes flash as she says, voice rising, "It's called not wasting your life in pointless frivolities, you bi-" A hard stop at that. Two sets of angry eyes turn to Skaya, pure, withering contempt from both parties sent her way.
21:25 <Skaya> "By all means, continue flirting. Or breaking up the party in the middle of a hostile dungeon. Whichever you feel suits the situation best."
21:29 <•Kotono> "Hmph!" In perfect tandem both turn away from you, but then Anne smiles. It's not the kindest smile, but she goes on, "You're jealous of me," she says. "Aren't you? You're not important, you're just some shopkeep who knows a little magic."
21:32 <•Kotono> Waving Oathstrike about before pointing it at Anne, "You...fine. You think I don't like helping others on our journey, or that it doesn't feel good to be one of the heroes who helped with the Dareslan plagues? Not all of us are super special women who can do it all and be a stuck up, smug bitch over it. I'm sorry not all of us can live up to your impossible example! Some of us are just shopkeepers
21:32 <•Kotono> who want to make money."
21:34 <Skaya> While true, Sanda surely realized by now that her efforts are not best served by keeping with the group. Not if her goal truly was only making money and running a shop. Would Anne realize it? Based on recent examples, Skaya's prognosis is grim.
21:35 <•Kotono> There's a pause at that, both women glaring at each other. Finally it's Sanda who says, "Aren't you going to apologize?"
21:37 <Skaya> This is Anne's chance to prove her wrong! Skaya can't help but wish it would happen.
21:39 <•Kotono> "No. Not because I'm blameless, because that's what you want to hear, isn't it?" Anne answers after a few moments too long, the tension thick. "So you can get mad at me over condescendingly apologizing to you." Another moment, Sanda's silence perhaps saying it all. "Besides, I already won. You're chasing after being a hero, beings omething better rather than go home with enough gold to live on
21:39 <•Kotono> for the rest of your life."
21:41 <Skaya> "Ah, maybe that's worded badly?" Skaya decides to speak up here. "Is choosing a heroic lifestyle really a victory for anyone than the one who decided on it? And plenty of legendary heroes weren't ascetics, so there's nothing wrong with that aspect either."
21:44 <•Kotono> Sanda finally drops Oathstrike and rubs her face with both hands. "The worst part is odds are, you're not wrong. Either of you." Sanda says, hints of tears on her face whens he drops her hands. "I like this a lot more than running my shop. Why do you think I've stayed with it after everything that's happened, no matter my complaints?"
21:45 <Skaya> "We're all here out of our own free will," Skaya says, no doubt in her voice. "And I'm glad you're all here. We wouldn't have gotten to this point otherwise."
21:46 <•Kotono> "Then you're doing well enough," Anne says, "That's the point of being an example. It isn't to make others feel I can't be reached, but to make others strive to find out how far they can go."
21:46 <•Kotono> "Even if statistically, you're still 100% a bitch?" Sanda says, without quite the same heat and tension as before.
21:47 <Skaya> They even use the same swear words for each other! Skaya can't help but feel a bit jealous.
21:48 <•Kotono> Anne takes a long breath, eyes closed before, "Could you not, please."
21:48 <•Kotono> "How about cu-" Sanda tries, before a nudge from Rina stops that.
21:48 <•Kotono> "Where did a shopkeep learn those words?" Rina asks, bemused.
21:48 <•Kotono> "You haven't seen merchants argue," Sanda retorts dryly.
21:49 <Skaya> "Is there any adult who hasn't been exposed to curses and foul language? Any at all?\"
21:50 <•Kotono> "Surprisingly few," Anne says, "I make a point to avoid them and teach those under me to do the same."
21:51 <•Kotono> "Somehow not surprised," Sanda remarks, resting her face in her hands again. "That's just...you."
21:51 <•Kotono> "Maybe it is," Anne doesn't argue it this time.
21:53 Devar set the topic: Skaya: 42/42 Devar 48/57 (-1 str) Anne 46/60 Sanda 39/39 Rina 57/57  Difficult terrain
21:53 <•Kotono> After a pause it's Sanda who breaks the ice again. "So..."
21:53 <•Kotono> "I don't want to argue with you, Sanda. I'm busy enough healing all of you, and this is getting self defeating for both of us," Anne admits, "And Is hould know better - and you should too."
21:53 <Skaya> "Yes, it's incredibly awkward but I'm made of sterner stuff and like you both."
21:54 — Skaya claps her hands. "Maybe what we really need is a topic change? Rina?"
21:55 <•Kotono> "So," Rina goes on, avoiding the current mess in front of her and grabbing Oathstrike. "Ask me something, Skaya."
21:55 <Skaya> "What's your type?"
21:56 <•Kotono> "Of weapon? Short swords workw ell, bigger weapons are nice but I've never had great physical strength. Always preferred precision fighting," Rina says.
21:56 <Skaya> "Ooh, nice! Did you misunderstand my intent on purpose?"
21:59 <•Kotono> "No, I took a moment," Rina says, "If you mean my type of man? Taller than me, that's a must. Strong but not musclebound. Handsome of course, with easy features. No facial hair, it tickles. Clean when possible. Takes care of himself and can take care of me, since I'll need it for when we have kids. Visiting the orphanage struck me how important that was, since without support things go wrong
21:59 <•Kotono> so fast."
22:00 <Skaya> "Also nice. Very detailed! I just feel that you've spent time thinking on it before. I'm humbled, truly."
22:09 <•Kotono> "Who hasn't at least thought of it in passing?" Rina says, smiling now, "What do you want ins omeone, Skaya?"
22:10 <Skaya> "I guess I only thought about it in passing? I don't really have any requirements since I'm open to almost anything. Ah, but no one from my ancestry, so not Devar, say. That one's a personal rule of mine."
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

20:03 <•Kotono> roll 1d100+20
20:03 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d100+20 --> [ 1d100=48 ]{68}
20:03 <•Kotono> The trip back to the hut is quiet enough, though the mud below boils and moves faster. But you reach the hut without difficulty otherwise.
20:04 <Devar> He heads inside - through the bone rooms and back to the stairs! He does test them - do they seem perfectly stable? He's never worn this belt before, but it sure seems to work!
20:05 <•Kotono> They seem stable enough. The belt smooths over his footing and makes everything easier.
20:05 <Devar> Down he goes!
20:07 <•Kotono> Down you go - after half a dozen steps down, you're suddenly downt he last stair, as if you missed something. A blink and you're elsewhere. A stairway winding back up stands in the middle of Dareslan, winding higher than the multistory building next to it, winding up into thin air. Vile mud and muck coats much of the town. Nos ign of anyone, no corpses either. The town itself is aged,
20:07 <•Kotono> buldings crumbling,  yet no weeds grow amid the cracked stones and mud drenched dirt.
20:08 <Devar> Devar looks around - where the mountain with the fire was in the other Dareslan, is there another mountain here? Perhaps the 'acrid peak'?
20:10 <•Kotono> Looking - there. Much of the southern half of the city is gone, replaced by a tall peak, shrouded by greenish fog. Much taller than the previous, a proper mountain with paths and places to climb.
20:11 <Devar> He's protected from a bit of acid, but not much - but there's no harm in at least checking it out. OOC: He'd be looking to see if the fog seems any denser in any particular areas - basically if he's going to fly there if he can take a route to avoid as much of it as he can. If he needs to get closer that's fine, he'll fly that way.
20:15 <•Kotono> As Devar approaches, staying back and out of the fog still, he sees that it thickens more as yo uget towards the top.
20:17 <Devar> Figures. He'll continue forward - in theory he won't need to be there very long... He'll keep going, flying towards it - if it seems like it burns him too much he can always head back.
20:18 <•Kotono> The moment you reach the fog, your wings feel heavier. It's like you can barely move forward, even as it begins to lightly sizzle at your skin.
20:19 <Devar> "Ah, tired of me ruining the fun?" He says, as if anything is going to reply. He will fly down to land - does it seem like as long as he isn't flying directly into the fog everything is fine?
20:20 <•Kotono> It's still a bit of a slowdown, but he can go forward easier. Also nor eply for whatever that's worth.
20:21 <Devar> He nods - and continues on. He isn't any faster with the belt, but he can still invoke its healing powers if need be. He wants to test and see how bad this acid fog actually is - is it immediately threatening?
20:27 <•Kotono> Once you step in, not immediately. IT sizzles on your skin but doesn't damage you. It's not comfortable, though.
20:27 <Devar> OOC: Also since it may become relevant, is there a CL for the Presip's Lifewalk on the belt?
20:27 <Devar> OOC: Oh nevermind, it's three rounds
20:27 <Devar> OOC: Ignore me
20:29 <Devar> Devar will hustle - they said there's nothing here but the storm, so hurrying up is his best plan! OOC: I don't get any extra movespeed from the belt so he's just going to run as best he can up the mountain, 30ft base movement and I guess 120 running. Acid Res 5.
20:31 <•Kotono> The path up isn't easy, but the belt helps greatly. You hurry up. Thet hin fog isn't a problem, but you quickly seet his won't be quick. It's not a small mountain - you'll be committing some time if you're going up. OOC: Fair warning.
20:33 <Devar> He'll continue on - he has a variety of ways to heal for now, but if he starts and it seems too much he will just retreat - getting down will be faster anyway! OOC: Noted.

20:33 <•Kotono> OOC: Perception.
20:34 <Devar> roll 1d20+8
20:34 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+8 --> [ 1d20=3 ]{11}
20:51 <•Kotono> It'sa narrow bit of ground you cross. A short path, when suddenly - gah! You notice a second too late. A bit of cliff side above gives way, a short avalanch coming your way. Dodge! OOC: Ref save, -2 penalty.
20:52 <Devar> He's going to try to avoid this, and if not then he has a plan!
20:52 <Devar> roll 1d20+9 evasion
20:52 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+9 evasion --> [ 1d20=2 ]{11}
20:53 <Devar> OOC: Since I am going to guess that fails, can I swift action to activate Swimstone?
20:56 <•Kotono> OOC: Not fast enought o impact the save's results. That would take an immediate action or similar. More.
20:59 <•Kotono> roll 4d6 owwwies bludgeoning damage so DR applies if you have it active
20:59 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 4d6 owwwies bludgeoning damage so DR applies if you have it active --> [ 4d6=12 ]{12}
20:59 <Devar> OOC: 7 in that case
20:59 <•Kotono> It's a hail of stones. Sharp pain as Devar is battered around, but fortunately not swept along. It's not big enough or with enough gravity to get him. Still, it's definitely painful.
21:03 <Devar> Gah! He'll have to be more careful! He'd activate Swimstone but he needs to get up there faster and doing that isn't terribly quick, so he just keeps running!
21:05 <Devar> OOC: Actually I just to confirm, if I activate Swimstone can I still run on top of the mountain up and use it if anything is going to hit me, or does it just turn into basically water and I have to default to swimming up?
21:08 <•Kotono> OOC: Yes, that sounds right.
21:08 <•Kotono> OOC: It turns into water and you're swimming in stone.
21:08 <•Kotono> OOC: The name is very evocative of what it does.
21:08 <Devar> OOC: Okay.
21:09 <Devar> Running it is! He has Swimstone in case of an emergency, at least!
21:19 <•Kotono> Devar runs on, up and up. The belt smooths over the problems with that and he begins to make good time. Higher and higher. No sign of inhabitants, but here his path is a dead end. There's a cliff face to climb up ,about 50ft, and the mist thickens some as you go up.
21:20 <Devar> He really didn't think there'd be situations where he can't fly and has to do this sort of thing, but so it goes! He hustles to the rocks to start climbing! If he runs into a problem he'll just swim up...
21:26 <•Kotono> OOC: Climb check.
21:26 <Devar> roll 1d20+3 Who ever takes Climb?!
21:26 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+3 Who ever takes Climb?! --> [ 1d20=13 ]{16}
21:27 <•Kotono> It's tough going, but Devar manages the first third safely. He's about 20ft up now, with more to go. Keep going! OOC: Climb again.
21:28 <Devar> roll 1d20+3 Who ever takes Climb?!
21:28 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+3 Who ever takes Climb?! --> [ 1d20=13 ]{16}
21:34 <•Kotono> 40ft up, 10ft to go! Devar's still doing it! Go go go!
21:35 <Devar> Nope, he's not messing this up now - he activates Swimstone and just goes right through it, intending to avoid any further hazards and get up as far as he can!
21:42 <•Kotono> Up to the top. It takes one round of swimming, but you make it there uneventfully. Perhaps wise all told, as you now see the pathcontinues ahead.
21:43 <•Kotono> Meanwhile, the thickening mist begins to sting more, your acid resistance pushed.
21:44 <Devar> He's never tried before, but is it something he can turn off and back on? Now's as good a time as any to try! OOC: Goal will be to "swim" out and see if he can just cancel it and keep running the rest of the way or not. If he can then he'll keep running!
21:47 <•Kotono> You're able to do it, getting the round's worth out of it and no more.
21:48 <Devar> So you can use it and cancel it, but once you do it's expired - good to know! Run!!
21:51 <•Kotono> Run! Run!
21:51 <•Kotono> roll 1d100
21:51 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d100 --> [ 1d100=80 ]{80}
21:52 <•Kotono> You soon go forward the fog is thickening - and with a grimace you feel a sharp bit of possible pain as it begins to gnaw at you.
21:52 <•Kotono> roll 2d4
21:52 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 2d4 --> [ 2d4=7 ]{7}
21:52 <•Kotono> OOC: ACid damage.
21:52 <Devar> OOC: Reduced to 2.
21:55 <•Kotono> OOC: Noted.
22:08 <•Kotono> OOC: Waiting on ar esponse from you, Devar, since you're getting hurt by the acid.
22:09 <Devar> OOC: Oh, I'm sorry - I am forging ahead.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Corwin

00:09 <•Kotono> You go slightly forward - and it'sc ontinuing to gnaw at you, a few more steps equalling more pain.
00:09 <•Kotono> roll 2d6
00:09 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 2d6 --> [ 2d6=11 ]{11}
00:10 <Devar> OOC: Reduced to 6 in that case. Do I have any idea (based on what I climbed up so far and saw on my way in)
00:10 <Devar> OOC: It would help if I finished my thought
00:11 <Devar> OOC: Of how high I am up the mountain versus where the top is - like do I think there's a long way to go or I'm probably close-ish to it?
00:12 <•Kotono> OOC: You're a decently long ways away, not close or anything. Lots of climbing and moving to go.
00:14 <Devar> If the fog is just going to get that much worse, trying to climb it like this is going to get him killed. A spell like resist energy is pretty much a necessity, or some sort of way to completely resist acid... he briefly wonders if there's a guardian in this place that could protect him - but for now he retreats, back the way he came - he can get protection from the others before he makes
00:14 <Devar> another attempt at this!
00:14 <•Kotono> roll 2d6 damage on retreat
00:14 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 2d6 damage on retreat --> [ 2d6=10 ]{10}
00:15 <•Kotono> You retreat - but it gnaws at you more, burning and stinging, before you escape to the thinner fog. It's fortunate you barely entered the thicker fog. But you're now free of immediate harm, at least with your acid resistant body.
00:16 <Devar> He lets out a breath - or at as much of one as he can. He retreats back to the cliffside he had to climb and tests his wings out a bit - can he at least slow his fall somewhat with them and just jump off, or do they seem to be completely negated here?
00:17 <•Kotono> Casual tests suggest they're mostly deadweight. Maybe mildly useful, but you aren't 100%.
00:18 <Devar> Well, just jumping off and hoping for the best is worse than trying to get down anyway, so he may as well try and climb down.
00:19 <Devar> roll 1d20+3 who takes climb???
00:19 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+3 who takes climb??? --> [ 1d20=16 ]{19}
00:19 <•Kotono> You make it downt he first third safely, 30ft to go. Keep going! OOC: Climb again.
00:20 <Devar> It's too bad he gave up on his monk training, Skaya would make this look easy.
00:20 <Devar> roll 1d20+3 who takes climb???
00:20 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+3 who takes climb??? --> [ 1d20=14 ]{17}
00:20 <•Kotono> Almost there! 10ft to go, the ground no longer so dangerously far away. KEep going! OOC: Climb one more time.
00:21 <Devar> Well, if he falls at this point, at least no one is here to see him.
00:21 <Devar> roll 1d20+3 who takes climb???
00:21 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+3 who takes climb??? --> [ 1d20=20 ]{23}
00:22 <•Kotono> Whew. Devar can climb. Who knew?
00:22 <•Kotono> Safe and sounda t teh bottom once more.
00:23 <Devar> And no one around to congratulate him. He sighs. At any rate - with the path going down much easier, he's going to invoke the power of this belt he's borrowing to heal himself! OOC: Assuming I can run without any issue back down 120 feet, using Life Walk, I should be able to heal for 24 in a round.
00:24 <•Kotono> The belt is activated, the healing of it mending Devar's wounds as he moves and hurries along. OOC: Make sure to let Cor know to mark off a daily usage of it when you give it back to Skaya. More.
00:25 <Devar> OOC: Noted.
00:25 <•Kotono> The trip back down is uneventful. It's as Starre said. Nothing's here, only a the city and the acid shrouded mountain. Now what? Returning back to the others?
00:26 <Devar> He can at least take a look around - he'll fly (assuming getting further away from the mountain lets him fly again with no issues) - over to where the glass shop is - assuming this is just another replication of the same place. He might be able to find something of some value.
00:29 <•Kotono> The glass shop is there. The door is closed, and on it little, sparkling spines of glass grow. As if the door was a living thing, producing glass life.
00:30 <Devar> "Hello?" Devar decides to try the obvious. If there's no reaction, he'll try lightly knocking on somewhere that isn't covered in glass. He's ready to get the heck out of there if need be...
00:31 <•Kotono> You knock. There's no response...until the door bursts open and half a dozen long tendrils of glass vines, covered in sharp glass edges, erupt out! They're rapidly thrashing and starting to turn your way! OOC: Init. You may have done goofed.
00:32 <•Kotono> roll 1d20+4
00:32 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d20+4 --> [ 1d20=18 ]{22}

00:32 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+2 --> [ 1d20=19 ]{21}
00:32 <Devar> OOC: I tried!
00:32 <•Kotono> Before Devar can react, the vines are on him!
00:32 <•Kotono> roll 1d20+13
00:32 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d20+13 --> [ 1d20=15 ]{28}
00:32 <•Kotono> OOC: AC?
00:32 <•Kotono> OOC: Flatfooted AC since it won init.
00:33 <Devar> OOC: 25 at present
00:33 <•Kotono> roll 1d10+8 slashing and more
00:33 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d10+8 slashing and more --> [ 1d10=1 ]{9}

00:33 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d20+19 vs CMD Devar grapplin' --> [ 1d20=8 ]{27}
00:34 <•Kotono> OOC: CMD?
00:36 <Devar> OOC: Actually wait, I may have goofed - Luminous armor provides a -4 to any melee attack, so the 28 should be a 24, so it would have missed. But my CMD is... checking one second 33
00:38 <Devar> OOC: It isn't a big deal to take the damage, it's only 4 anyway.
00:39 <Devar> OOC: sorry CMD is 32 not 33, I had my BAB higher than it should've been
00:39 <•Kotono> With raw speed Devar darts back - just in time to avoid them lashing out and giving him a precious moment to do something. OOC: Go, your turn.
00:40 <Devar> "That wasn't very nice at all!" Devar shouts, taking to the air and getting away from this!
00:40 <•Kotono> Flight and escape. The vines reach out but not that far, and danger is swiftly left behind. Whew! OOC: Free act.
00:41 <Devar> "What in the world is the real one keeping inside?" He wonders as he flies on - towards where the Mystran temple would be.
00:42 <•Kotono> Your return is without incident, and...OOC: Just heading back then?
00:42 <Devar> OOC: Oh, are the stairs that lead out where the temple was? Sorry, I probably just mindblanked on that as a point of reference.
00:43 <Devar> OOC: If that is the case, he'll head to wherever the High Reeve's headquarters were. He's basically trying to stop at landmarky places to see if there's anything of any use anywhere.
00:46 <•Kotono> The High Reeve's abode is mostly intact and silent. You're free to go in or explore as you wish.
00:46 <Devar> Devar will go in - respectfully - and *definitely* look around for any weird glass vines or anything out of the ordinary...
00:49 <Devar> OOC: Take 10 on Perception for 18, he wishes it wasn't tied to the thing he has +0 in.
00:56 <•Kotono> No glass vines or anything. Just quiet, supplies and remnants of the city left around. However, in the High Reeve's main office sits a single object of note: A potted plant, vibrant and green. It's leafy and in full bloom, while pretty little green berries grow on it.
00:57 <Devar> OOC: Take 10 on K:N for 22. It being vibrant with nothing around would certainly indicate something's amiss I would assume? Does it radiate any magic? I guess 10 for 22 on Spellcraft too.
01:00 <Devar> He's no druid, but a plant like this can't be normal...
01:00 <•Kotono> No magic, but it seems like a simple berry plant. A variant of a simple strawberry bush, but it doesn't look right? It doesn't really fit in toa nything you know the more you study it.
01:02 <Devar> He's already ingested weird blood from a magical worm, what's one green berry? He snags one and pops it in his mouth.
01:07 <•Kotono> You take a bite and - sharp! The taste is terrible, acid. Acid that burns going down, but acid that isn't enough to hurt you. A mere few moments later? OOC: Fort.
01:07 <Devar> roll 1d20+16
01:07 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+16 --> [ 1d20=1 ]{17}
01:09 <•Kotono> roll 1d6 damage, not acid damage and DR does not apply
01:09 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d6 damage, not acid damage and DR does not apply --> [ 1d6=5 ]{5}
01:10 <•Kotono> Devar doubles over. His previous meals come up in heaving waves, followed by stomach acid and worse. It's like everything has to come out, then dry heaves that leave your head spinning.
01:10 <Devar> Well - that was... incredibly unpleasant, but again, thankfully, no one was around to see it...
01:11 <Devar> He takes a few moments to steady himself and wipe his mouth. Ugh. Well, it isn't terribly useful to him, but he will take the plant and put it in his Haversack - maybe they can make something useful out of the berries. Ugh - yuck.
01:16 <•Kotono> You take the plant. Now what?
01:17 <Devar> He spits up a little more just to clear the taste from his mouth. Where else is there to check? He decides to head over to see if the cathedral exists here in any particular capacity.
01:18 <•Kotono> OOC: Give me a second Fortitude save, -4 penalty.
01:18 <Devar> roll 1d20+12
01:18 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+12 --> [ 1d20=3 ]{15}
01:18 <•Kotono> roll 1d8 con damage
01:18 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d8 con damage --> [ 1d8=3 ]{3}
01:20 <•Kotono> You barely get outside before suddenly your empty stomach rebels.You manage to lurch and grab a wall before vomiting again, a terrible mix of acid, unsavory fluids and streaks of blood. Your head swims as you feel horrific, a few coughs afterwards producing acid-tasting bloody spit.
01:21 <Devar> Ugh - he's familiar with this, he saw enough of it just a few days ago. He puts a hand on his chest to soothe himself and his frayed being. OOC: Lesser Restoration
01:21 <Devar> roll 1d4
01:21 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d4 --> [ 1d4=4 ]{4}
01:21 <•Kotono> The internal damage fixes itself with your well timed and chosen spell. You still don't feel right, but you feel notably better than you did a few minutes ago.
01:21 <•Kotono> *few moments ago
01:22 <Devar> He takes in a breath - slow and steady. He may as well wait for a few more minutes just in case this continues - there's not much else he can do at the present.
01:22 <Devar> OOC: Just going to wait, say, 30 minutes or so just to be safe, assuming he doesn't have another episode in like 2.
01:24 <•Kotono> OOC: Fort again, same -4 penalty.
01:24 <Devar> roll 1d20+12
01:24 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+12 --> [ 1d20=13 ]{25}
01:24 <•Kotono> This time it passes. Not well but it passes, and you're actually getting fearsomely hungry.
01:26 <Devar> Well - there's not much sense in hanging around here as it stands. It doesn't surprise him that he's hungry, he did just make plenty of room everywhere for food... He will head back to the stairs to rejoin the others and get a snack with them while he explains the situation!
01:31 <•Kotono> Thus Devar heads back and...OOC: IO'll resynch you next tiem then.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Corwin

19:10 <•Kotono> "Wait, you and Devar share blood?" Rina asks suddenly. "I hadn't realized."
19:16 <Skaya> "Kinda sorta. You never know how close the relation is!"
19:17 <•Kotono> "What?
19:17 <•Kotono> "What?" Rina frowns and tilts her head, "If he's your kin, surely you know how you're related!"
19:18 <Skaya> "You would think so but planar relationships are weird."
19:21 <•Kotono> "I-" Any further commentary is stopped when Devar returns, battered but alive.
19:21 <•Kotono> "Oh!" Sanda turns, "How was it down there?"
19:22 <Skaya> "Aside from disgusting."
19:26 <Devar> "Long story." He says - he starts with the plant he found - that looks like a strawberry plant for the most part. "I don't know if we have any particularly adept alchemists, but this thing seems to produce rather acidic berries that you could probably find some use for." He clears his throat after that. "So, the town is pretty much dead, I ran into the glass shop, which appears to have yet
19:26 <Devar> another golem in it, except this one is a giant glass plant that's just as awful as the eyeball thing was."
19:27 <•Kotono> "Plants. Why is it plants?" Anne murmurs to herself, "Acid berry plants and glass vine plants."
19:28 <Skaya> "Sounds nasty. So no other treasure on some mountain?"
19:29 <Devar> "The mountain I couldn't manage." He explains. "The acid storms start to get rather rough when you're about halfway up, I didn't want to chance it - and while I'm decent at climbing, I wasn't sure I could manage it the whole way. I think, at the bare minimum, whoever goes would want a Resist Energy against acid, but even that may not be enough for the whole thing. I think it's doable, you need
19:29 <Devar> to take precautions."
19:31 <•Kotono> "It's still difficult, and those spells don't last forever, Anne reasons, "Not impossible, but dangerous and time is against you. Something to permanently protect against acid would work muchb etter."
19:31 <Skaya> "Think I should go, then? If warded?"
19:33 <•Kotono> Rina crosses her arms, "Can you make it fast enough?"
19:34 <Devar> "I think you'd have a better time than me if properly protected." Devar agrees. "Oh, I did have to use your belt's power once, but you can still use it again." He takes it off to hand it back. "It really helped a lot. I think I could get you there while you hold your breath - if you wanted to try that to avoid the gasses in the air. Anne's right though, maybe our muddy friends would know if
19:34 <Devar> there was something that protected against acid?"
19:34 <Devar> OOC: About how long would I estimate the flight to the hut then down the stairs and to the mountain would be?
19:34 <•Kotono> "I'mw orried if you run out of protection mid way. That's a death sentence," Anne reckons, "Unless..." she muses to herself, "Feather fall. If you that works, you could get down much faster."
19:35 <•Kotono> OOC: 10ish mintues with flight.
19:37 <Devar> "It took about ten minutes or so for me to get there, and I'd imagine Skaya could scale the mountain in around that same time - I was able to fly part of the way up but there seemed to be something in the air that prevented further flying. I think there'd be plenty of time left on the spell, unless getting up was a lot harder than I think it would be." Devar says.
19:40 <Skaya> "I suppose it all depends on whether I can get some resistance against acid," Skaya muses, putting her belt back on. "Then I should at least be good against the environment, especially since my speed would be faster than Devar's. I could probably not breathe in any crap inside, too."
19:41 <•Kotono> "I can ward you," Anne says, "It would last al ittle under an hour."
19:42 <Skaya> "Then let's do it. Actually, do we have enough to ward Devar as well? He could fly me up as high as possible, then, and I can risk the rest on my own."
19:42 <Devar> "I won't need it for that far." He says. "It doesn't start to really bother me until further than I can fly."
19:43 <Devar> "Oh, here -" He takes out his cure moderate wounds potion to hand over. "In case of an emergency."
19:43 <Skaya> "Even better, then. I know other Starre said there were no challenges beyond the storms, so I'll see how this works." She accepts the potion as well, though hoping she won't need to use it.
19:44 <•Kotono> "Let'sg o, we'll get closer to it before I ward you," Anne agrees, as...oOC: Moment so what's your plan?
19:46 <Devar> OOC: I'll carry Skaya through while she holds her breath to avoid any airborne diseases (hopefully) to the hut, then we'll get down the stairs and I'll fly her to acid mountain
19:46 <Skaya> OOC: I hold my breath from the moment Devar tells me to and hope that my Purity of Body covers the rest. Anne wards me with Resist Acid 10. Then he flies me over as high up the mountain as we can go and then I'll continue on foot.
19:51 <•Kotono> roll 1d100
19:51 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d100 --> [ 1d100=33 ]{33}
19:51 <•Kotono> All of this, surprisingly, goes without incident. Skaya is warded and flown to the mountain. Up as high as can be gone, the path Devar tread ahead, waiting for Skaya to do the same.
19:52 <Devar> "I'll go with you until the acid starts to become problematic and wait there." Devar says. "I imagine I can hear you just fine if you shout."
19:53 — Skaya nods resolutely and sets off!
19:55 <•Kotono> Thet wo go ahead - and soon enough the same cliff as before awaits both of them. A 50ft climb up, same as last time.
19:56 <Devar> "I really don't know how you do it and do it so easily." He says. "I managed with this but I'm sure it's no problem for you."
19:58 — Skaya shrugs, and decides to go slow and steady to present a proper example to Devar.
19:59 <Skaya> OOC: I'll take 10! For 23.
20:04 <•Kotono> Skaya scrambles up safely enough, taking a bit but now up without any danger. Is Devar following or...?
20:05 <Devar> He may as well go up - if there's an emergency it's better he be closer.
20:05 <Devar> roll 1d20+3 surely he can manage this again
20:05 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+3 surely he can manage this again --> [ 1d20=18 ]{21}
20:08 <•Kotono> 30ft to go! Keep going, Devar! OOC: Climb again.
20:08 <Devar> roll 1d20+3 surely he can manage this again
20:08 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+3 surely he can manage this again --> [ 1d20=6 ]{9}
20:09 <•Kotono> Oh no! 30ft up Devar's grip slips, and the next thing he knows, he's falling down and at gravity's mercy! OOC: Have anything to help?
20:11 <Devar> Well, the best he's got is hoping his wings can help break his fall a little bit - now is as good a time as any!
20:12 <•Kotono> OOC: Acrobatics check, +2 bonus.
20:13 <Devar> roll 1d20+4 he really ought to brush up on that sort of thing in the future
20:13 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+4 he really ought to brush up on that sort of thing in the future --> [ 1d20=13 ]{17}
20:15 <•Kotono> roll 3d6 ow
20:15 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 3d6 ow --> [ 3d6=11 ]{11}
20:15 <•Kotono> OW. OW OW OW OW OW. Devar lands heavily, a loud CRACK of stone and body as he falls. Nothing's truly broken, but he's going to have bruises everywhere.
20:15 <Skaya> That sounded painful but Devar is surely fine! And she won't be if her spell expires, so Skaya continues more swiftly now!
20:16 Devar set the topic: Skaya: 42/42 Devar 41/57 (-1 str, melee attacks -4) Anne 46/60 Sanda 39/39 Rina 57/57  Difficult terrain
20:16 <Devar> "I promise I did this just fine before!" He calls out from the ground with a groan. "Up and down! Ow, ow... ow... I guess I need to consider times where I won't be able to fly in the future."
20:18 <Skaya> That's so mean! She'll need to consider ways to fly in the near future!
20:19 <•Kotono> OOC: Okay, if Skaya's going on that's one thing. ARe you going to continue to try and climb up, Devar? Need to know if I need one or two rooms.
20:19 <Devar> "Is there anything you can tie a rope to up there?" He calls up. "Otherwise I'll just wait down here."
20:19 <Skaya> Is there anything? She'd secure a rope for him, then.
20:30 <•Kotono> There's a few spots, sure.
20:31 — Skaya does it swiftly and heads up! She has a couple of the ropes!
20:32 <Devar> Devar will hopefully climb up less embarassingly from here on out.
20:35 <•Kotono> With that Devar is able to climb up swiftly and safely. Whew.
20:35 <Devar> "It's a bit ahead of here you'll start to notice the effect." He explains.
20:36 — Skaya nods, prepared to speed up.
20:39 <•Kotono> Thus Skaya goes on alone - and the acid is stronger ahead, the fog thicker. It stings and hurts - but isn't burning, not quite. The protection is holding!
20:40 <Skaya> So far, so good! She might need to burn these clothes afterwards, but they're intended to be replaced anyway.
20:43 <•Kotono> Onward. The foggy path continues -a nd soon enough you come to a chasm in the path. It's a 20ft gap to cross, with a fall of hundreds of feet below. There's a few scraggly, fog slicked handholds on the cliff side at least, if one wishes to try and climb.
20:45 — Skaya will jump! If it's just 20ft, then she can clear it with ease! And if the ground is slippery at the end as well, her new belt would helpfully negate that disadvantage!
20:45 <Skaya> OOC: Acrobatics 10 for 26
20:48 <•Kotono> It's a tough jump, but Skaya clears it smoothly. Safe! Good footing helps as well, not a bit of slip on fog slippery stone.
20:48 <Skaya> This might've been lethal without the belt. Skaya is indeed very happy as she proceeds onwards!
20:50 <•Kotono> A few more minutes of hustling, until you come to a problem. The path ends in a gap. 15ft ahead and 40ft down is another path going on. The cliff side is smooth, no grips to climb with. Alternately, 10ft ahead and 25ft up is a little cliff side, another path winding up alternately.
20:52 <Skaya> She's going up, after all, so Skaya examines the path leading up.
20:52 <Skaya> OOC: Is it a 10ft horizontal gap and 25ft vertical gap?
20:56 <•Kotono> OOC: Yes.
21:00 <Skaya> Well. That's actually impossible, isn't it? Skaya might be able to reliably jump 10ft straight up, and maybe 11-12 if she exerts herself, but 25 is in the realm of legendary heroes and flight. Or possibly magic? But she might be able to climb there, so she decides to try scaling the smooth cliff first!
21:00 <Skaya> OOC: Climb 10 for 23, again
21:00 — Skaya will also secure a rope here and ties the other end to herself.
21:03 <•Kotono> Skaya makes it halfway and has to stop. She sees it's going to take one heck ofa move and a little jump, a sincerely difficult stunt. Not impossible, but it's not without risk.
21:04 <Skaya> At worst she'll hit against the cliffside as she dangles off the rope, won't she? The jump down might be easier accomplished, but it's still high enough to harm her. And this way, she can return easier. Skaya decides to give this a try!
21:05 <•Kotono> OOC: Acrobatics check then.
21:06 <Skaya> roll 1d20+16 (my base speed is 60, so I would get +12 on jumps)
21:06 <Kobot> Skaya rolled 1d20+16 (my base speed is 60, so I would get +12 on jumps) --> [ 1d20=16 ]{32}
21:07 <•Kotono> With a desperate hop, Skaya times it perfectly and makes the jump. She grabs a hold, perches and scurries the rest of the way, making it to the far path safely.
21:08 — Skaya feels the urge to pose, except no one would see her, would they? So she settles for securing the other side of the rope here and proceeding. Surely she's closer to the summit by choosing a more dangerous and direct route!
21:15 <•Kotono> Scurrying up. Hurrying. Fast as she can, a race against time. The path winds against the mountainside, often narrowinga nd making it dangerous going - but her sure footing helps. Onward she travels, onward and onward. Closer toa  peak - and ahead she sees it. One wide path straight up. Rising straight to the top, something there but shrouded int he fog, awaiting you.
21:15 → Iddy joined (uid408070@lunarnet-423F0355.irccloud.com)
21:16 <Skaya> Spend as little time in the fog as possible! Her protections will probably not be enough inside! But luckily, Skaya is very fast.
21:17 <•Kotono> Skaya begins to race. AS she does, she sees the fog thicken and intensify ahead, around whatever rests atop the peak. Sizzling and hissing, acid virtually felt against her skinf rom here.
21:18 <Skaya> Perhaps she could dodge it at least once? It's fog, so it's moving. There might be places where it's thinner, and her training to evade attacks similar to roiling poisonous fogs might come in handy.
21:19 <Skaya> OOC: I have acrobatics and evasion! And probably some helpful knowledge to spot such a weak point if it exists.
21:21 <•Kotono> Skaya tries. She races ahead and uses what she can,e ven as her skin begins to his and burn under the acid. OOC: More, this helps a little bit.
21:21 <•Kotono> roll 4d6-2
21:21 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 4d6-2 --> [ 4d6=17 ]{15}
21:22 Skaya set the topic: Skaya: 37/42 Devar 41/57 (-1 str, melee attacks -4) Anne 46/60 Sanda 39/39 Rina 57/57  Difficult terrain
21:22 <•Kotono> Acid burns even with proper warding. Skaya's hurryinga s she suppresses pure pain, her clothing smoking and starting to be eaten away. Ahead! It's still a bit ahead, the fog even thicker, but a simple raised platform ist here, something sitting there, still hidden byt he fog. Almost there!
21:23 — Skaya dashes! Her speed is truly prodigious! Once she's grabbed the spoils from the pedestal, she can get out of this cursed fog!
21:23 <•Kotono> roll 5d6-2 and more after this
21:23 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 5d6-2 and more after this --> [ 5d6=19 ]{17}
21:24 Skaya set the topic: Skaya: 30/42 Devar 41/57 (-1 str, melee attacks -4) Anne 46/60 Sanda 39/39 Rina 57/57  Difficult terrain
21:25 <•Kotono> With enough speed to reach the platform swiftly, Skaya does so. Sitting here is a massive tome, double the size of even a large, lap filling wizard's grimoire. It looks to be hundreds of pages, a heavy book that's more a club from sheer weight. IT's lightly tied to the platform by shiny gold wires, which are notably undamaged by the acid, as is the tome itself. A book bound in rich leather
21:25 <•Kotono> which doesn't smoulder and burn int he acid, unlike you and yours.
21:26 <Skaya> OOC: How many wires? Is there some visible lock?
21:27 <•Kotono>  OOC: Four wires. No lock, it's tied with simple knots. Almost like shoe laces.
21:28 <Skaya> It's not like she has a choice, does she? Skaya tries to untie the closest knot! Surely she's good at this, too!
21:28 <Skaya> OOC: Disable device? Sleight of hand? Something else?
21:28 <•Kotono> OOC: Disable device, -4 penalty due to circumstances.
21:28 <Skaya> OOC: I'll take 10 for 20

21:29 <•Kotono> OOC: Lucky.
21:30 <•Kotono> With patience and her wards holding for the moment, Skaya is unable to undo the knots. The book can be removed now, the golden wires falling aside.
21:30 <Skaya> OOC: Able, you mean?
21:31 — Skaya grabs the book and the golden wires, if she can get both, and then dashes back the way she came from!
21:31 <•Kotono> OOC: Yes, able.
21:32 <•Kotono> OOC: You can grab the wires if you want, but it'll take you a precious few more seconds and risk acid damage. Do you?
21:32 <Skaya> OOC: Yes

21:32 <•Kotono> Book and wires gotten, arms completely full as Skaya's clothing is little more than rags and remnants now. Alls he has to do is geta way alive now!
21:33 — Skaya dashes out of the fog while activating Presip's Life Walk to heal up all of her wounds in one go!
21:34 Skaya set the topic: Skaya: 42/42 Devar 41/57 (-1 str, melee attacks -4) Anne 46/60 Sanda 39/39 Rina 57/57  Difficult terrain
21:34 <•Kotono> OOC: How much HP does it restore in one move?
21:35 <Skaya> OOC: 1hp per 5ft I move. I ran and my base speed is 60ft, so it pretty much overheals me.
21:35 <•Kotono> Skaya runs, eeven as she heals the acid gnaws at her. OOC: It lasts for af ew rounds, so I'll just roll in case it's some gigantic roll or something.
21:35 <•Kotono> roll 5d6-2
21:35 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 5d6-2 --> [ 5d6=14 ]{12}
21:35 <•Kotono> roll 4d6-2

21:36 <Skaya> OOC: It expires after this third round, but I'm still at full.
21:36 <•Kotono> It's enough. Skaya's intact in body at elast when she emerges from the worst of the fog, tome and wires in hand. She made it!
21:36 — Skaya discards the rags of her clothes with some minor regret once she's far enough from the acid fog, before seeing if she can store the book in her haversack. The wires go inside either way.
21:38 <•Kotono> OOC: How big an item can your haversack take?
21:39 <Skaya> OOC: I presume if it can fit into the opening of a big backpack I can manage.
21:39 <•Kotono> roll 1d2 coinflip since it's close lower is good
21:39 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d2 coinflip since it's close lower is good --> [ 1d2=1 ]{1}
21:39 <•Kotono> Just barely Skaya manages to cram the tome in. Just barely.
21:40 <Skaya> Awesome! Skaya retrieves her winter clothing since it should be sturdier and swiftly puts it on before retracing her steps. Her return should be easy enough!
21:45 <•Kotono> You some come to the 10ft horizonal and 25ft vertical section. How are you dealing with this ont he other side of it, from above rather than below?
21:46 — Skaya ties the rope to herself to prevent the worst case scenario and ensure she can retrieve it afterwards, but the actual jump is within her capabilities, if barely. She jumps across!
21:46 <Skaya> OOC: 10ft horizontal is trivial even from a standing jump, and Skaya has slow fall 20ft
21:47 <•Kotono> Easy enough. From there it's nothing but careful movesa nd hops to reunite with Devar once more. OOC: Goa head.
21:48 — Skaya runs up to Devar, grinning widely. "It was awesome! Wish you could've seen it!"
21:49 <Devar> "Just from the sounds of it I would've not been able to pull it off." He says with a smile. "I'm glad you suggested to come. So you found the book or whatever it is?"
21:50 <Skaya> "Oh yes. It melted my clothes off, but I got it and an unexpected windfall, too. Let's go back?"
21:51 <Devar> "Sure, I've got a spare change if you need it." He says. "Let's get out of here for sure."
21:51 <Skaya> "Maybe I'll take you up on that offer, I'm running a bit low myself."
21:51 <Devar> OOC: Devar will fly Skaya back to the stairs and we'll check out that door that wouldn't open. Oh, he'll also show her the door to What We Think is Ooze.
21:54 <•Kotono> OOC: Back in the hut, you mean?
21:54 <Devar> OOC: Yes sorry, the two doors in the hut.
21:57 <•Kotono> First the door that would not open. Amazingly, it does not open and nothing unusual is there.
21:57 — Skaya sees whether it can be opened with a bit more effort!
21:57 <Devar> "Remember that awful sound you guys heard? It came from behind this after I put that weird pearl-stone thing on the door." He explains. "I'm not sure if it actually was just a coincidence."
21:58 — Skaya nods.
22:01 <•Kotono> The door does not budge.
22:02 — Skaya looks for any pedestals or rounded spaces where the pearl might be placed.
22:02 <Devar> "It's weird, right? Like, clearly there's something you're supposed to do, but I haven't figured it out." He says. "Oh, this is where I found that pearl to begin with, over there under some of the bones."
22:02 — Skaya does a thorough search!
22:06 <•Kotono> Nothing like that is seen to Skaya's efforts, nor is anything awry found noa s earch.
22:08 <Devar> "The only thing of note is that other door that leads to the awful oozy-acid plane." He says. "I'm still not sure if the thing that created this put all of the different portals here or if this just happened to be 'the maelstrom' because of that."
22:09 — Skaya purses her lips, and then tries to press the pearl to the door!
22:10 <•Kotono> Nothing happens.
22:11 — Skaya looks at Devar and raises an eyebrow quizzically.
22:11 <Devar> "It may have just been coincidence last time." He says. "But it definitely came from there when I did it before."
22:11 — Skaya hands it over to him to try!
22:11 <Devar> He takes it and tries for himself - just pressing it against the door like he did last time.
22:13 <•Kotono> Again nothing happens.
22:14 <•Kotono> ...until there's a loud BANG! ont he other side fo the door!
22:14 <Devar> "Well, it's a mystery for another ti-AACK - See!?" He shouts.
22:14 — Skaya gives Devar a thumbs up, and then waits for the next strike to hit the door herself from their side!
22:15 <•Kotono> Nothing further happens. No more noise.
22:16 <Devar> "Is that supposed to be some sort of knock, you think?" He asks. "I don't know why it only seems to happen when I do it..."
22:16 <Skaya> "Try to smash it against the door as much as you can? Try thinking about opening the door while you hold and press it against the door? Try to pray to Eldath?"
22:18 <Devar> He shrugs and decides to slam the pearl on the door with the flat of his palm as hard as he can.
22:20 <•Kotono> The pearl shatters! On this there is silence, until the door is slammed again and again. It's starting to open!
22:20 <Skaya> They succeeded! Oh no?
22:20 — Skaya backs away from the door and takes a deep breath in case there's horrible poison gas.
22:21 <Devar> Devar does the same, moving in front of Skaya in case something bad happens - ready to bolt if necessary!
22:24 <•Kotono> The door opens and - ! OOC: Will save. Mind affecting and fear for immunities.
22:24 <Devar> OOC: Skaya gets +4, and I'm immune

<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Corwin

19:01 <•Kotono> The door opens. Within is an endless sea of brown and green ooze. It stretches farther than you can imagine, the stench of it foul. Yet floating just by the door is something wrapped in thick linen clothes stained the color of the ooze. Human shaped and perhaps ten feet tall. It stays stone still now that the door is open. Slowly, very slowly, a dangling loose bit of the linen begins to reach
19:01 <•Kotono> out, for the two of you.
19:03 <Skaya> And very quickly this seems like a mistake!
19:04 <Devar> "Hello?" Devar calls out in Common. "Can you understand us?" He does slowly take a step back, gently nudging Skaya behind him as he does. If it *was* hostile it probably would've already attacked them, but you can't be too careful...
19:05 <Skaya> Negotiating is good! It was foretold to be a thing here. And retreating is also good! Skaya agrees on all counts, moving back at the prompting.
19:06 <•Kotono> The linen continues, towards Devar now. In place of an answer it goes closer and closer to him, angling for his hand.
19:08 <Devar> "What's your read on this?" Devar asks Skaya. "It doesn't feel hostile..."
19:09 <Skaya> "Please stop if you can understand us," Skaya requests, moving further back. "If you do, Devar will let you touch him later!"
19:13 <•Kotono> Whatever it is, it stops mere inches from Devar's hand.
19:13 <Skaya> "If you are in trouble and want our help, can you move a bit to the side?"
19:15 <•Kotono> It moves a bit to the side.
19:16 <Skaya> Looks good! "Do you need magical healing? Curing disease, poison or wounds? If so, please move to the side again."
19:18 <•Kotono> No movement to the side this time.
19:19 — Skaya purses her lips. "Devar, since you were the only one of us two that triggered a response, I think it's up to you to decide here."
19:20 <Devar> He nods. "I think it'll be okay. If not... well, I did also walk into a raging fire, so this won't be the dumbest thing I've done lately." He says, and holds his hand out towards the creature. "If it helps you communicate, go ahead."
19:20 <Skaya> "Good luck!"
19:22 <•Kotono> Devar's hand is touched by the linen, and instantly...OOC: Fort save. Modifiers against poison apply.

19:23 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+16 --> [ 1d20=14 ]{30}
19:26 <•Kotono> The touch feels horrible, and moments later, the linen rapidly spools out from what it covers, and starts to creep up Devar's arm.OOC: Chance to react, I'll call init if events warrant.
19:28 <Devar> "I don't think we're compatible." Devar says. "If you hold on, I think we can take you to creatures that are more like you and we can help." He doesn't make any particular motion to pull his arm away, despite saying that.
19:29 <•Kotono> OOC: Fort again, poison modifiers apply again.
19:29 <Devar> roll 1d20+16
19:29 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+16 --> [ 1d20=14 ]{30}
19:30 <•Kotono> Devar continuest o allow it to move. In moments it's covered his arm, his shoulders, the left side of his chest. More and more is going, revealing a blackened, desiccated corpse within. It begins to fall away and crumble as the linens rapidly move from it to Devar.
19:31 — Skaya involuntarily takes a few steps back at the sight.
19:33 <Devar> "I seem to be resisting whatever is going on, I really don't think it's trying to hurt me, but I don't think it understands we aren't compatible. I think the elementals might be able to help with this if we can get back to them, but I'm not sure what happens if I mess up." He says, not trying to take any particularly hostile actions. "Hey, if you can understand, is it possible for you to spool
19:33 <Devar> yourself in just one place rather than all over?"
19:33 <•Kotono> OOC: Fort again, same poison modifiers.
19:34 <Skaya> "That looks really unsanitary," Skaya unhelpfully points out.
19:34 <Devar> "Yeah, don't worry, I can tell."
19:34 <Devar> roll 1d20+16
19:34 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+16 --> [ 1d20=6 ]{22}
19:35 <•Kotono> Those are the last words Devar utters, at least for now. He suddenly collapses, the poison too much. In moments he's entirely covered in the linen, the previous corpse with them nothing more than dust in the ooze ocean now. Devar lies on the ground, completely covered, before a strange, distorted chuckle comes from him. It doesn't sound like Devar at all. OOC: Knockout poison, you're out cold,
19:35 <•Kotono> Devar. I'll let you know if that changes.
19:36 <Skaya> "I was just joking about the unsanitary thing," Skaya says nervously, backing away further.
19:40 <•Kotono> The Devar-wrapped creature hops up from lying on its back in one smooth move, chuckling more. "Would you like to join us?"
19:42 <Skaya> "What's this us?" Skaya asks. "I'd like to hear more about this. Me and my friend, Storm's Eye. He wants to hear all about it too!"
19:44 <•Kotono> "What?" The Devar-wrapped creature asks, then...
19:46 <•Kotono> "I was here first!" Storm's Eye growls, voice like the thunderbolts, a tremendous echo in the enclosed space, "Shove OFF!" The lightning strikes Devar directly, coming from Storm's Eye to hit Devar and the wrappings around him.

19:46 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 5d8 full to both you and the wrappings lightning damage --> [ 5d8=15 ]{15}
19:47 <•Kotono> A scream from that other voice as the linens smouldera nd start to burn, blackened from the lightning. They retreat away as the screams fade, a twitching pile recoiling by the door, a few feet away from a now collapsed but stirring Devar. OOC: That was enough to wake you up at least.

19:49 <•Devar> "Oh, come on!" Devar says, coming back to consciousness only to hear that. "Can't anything here be normal!?"
19:49 <Skaya> "Less talking, more smiting!"
19:49 <•Devar> "I'm all out of smiting for today!"
19:49 <Skaya> "Why would you admit that?!"
19:50 <•Devar> "You asked!"
19:52 — Skaya takes out her wand of magic missiles with dismay and shoots the smoldering, twitching pile!
19:52 <•Kotono> You talk instead of smiting. That's certainly a choice, and it gives the linens time to begin to move again, even burnt, before...OOC: Not quite fast enough, too much chatter. Init.

19:53 <•Kotono> OOC: Fair enough, Skaya. Devar opens, bear in mind Storm's Eye's used up for this encounter in the self zapping.
19:54 <•Devar> "I tried to be nice!" Devar shouts. "Considerate, even to something alien like you!" Since he's already got his weapon, he moves forward and slashes and stabs at the linen!

20:10 <Skaya> "Stab it again!"
20:10 <•Devar> Devar does as requested.
20:11 <•Devar> "Starre didn't mention any super cool things being guarded by the Body-stealing Linen, did she?" Devar asks with a huff.

20:15 <•Kotono> The linens are now a stabbed, charred and ruined mess. Devar meanwhile gets a loud yawn as an answer, "Stupid parasite thinks its free game with you..."
20:19 <Skaya> "What now, Devar?" Skaya asks, coming down from her combat high. "I think exploring the place beyond that door is not for me. And you?"
20:20 <•Devar> "I think I'm done exploring." Devar says with a small laugh. "Let's go back for now and get healed up and see what that book can do."

20:32 <Skaya> Why did she come here? Ah yes, for the chance to be bathed in acid. Good times, Skaya reminisces.
20:33 <•Devar> Devar will do his best to carry Skaya over this and get back to the others, trying to fly high enough to avoid it but low enough that if he drops out of the sky Skaya isn't in a lot of trouble!

20:35 <Skaya> "A trash mummy tried to parasitize him," Skaya reports, supporting Devar again now that she's back on her own two feet. "It couldn't have been sanitary."
20:35 <•Kotono> Rina hangs back, but calls out, "Did you get it, at least?"
20:36 <•Devar> "I had my body stolen by awful poisonous bandages." He says, rather flatly as he goes to fall down in a heap against a wall. "If you've got any spells for restoring someone's faculties I probably need a few, at least... and yes, but thank Skaya, she did all the work."
20:36 <Skaya> "I got a really huge book and some nice threads. My old clothes melted with my skin, but I got better. Devar tried to do a good thing but you know, trash mummies and all. It can't be helped. Most evil things here just rush at you mindlessly."

20:38 <•Devar> "It's fine, I can fix it in the morning. Or whatever counts as morning here." He says with a breath out. "Hopefully."
20:39 — Skaya takes out the book she retrieved, in the meantime.
20:41 <•Devar> "I'm really curious what that can do." Devar says. "I know I'm only dabbling in magic like you Sanda, but if it's something that can help all of us out that'd be amazing."
20:42 <•Devar> "If it needs an identify I can muster that." He adds.
20:42 <Skaya> "And now, the wait is over! We'll find out!"
20:54 <•Kotono> Withs ome study, Devar finds out that...OOC: Loot.
20:59 <•Devar> "I don't even know where to begin with this." He says, looking rather impressed. "Okay, so the short version is, uh... hmm... it's a blessed book, which, if you're not familiar, is like a wizard's spellbook, but... better? Anyway, you can scribe spells in here and they benefit more from martial ability." He says. He will launch into a longer and more comprehensive explanation after that. "...So
20:59 <•Devar> if you manage to scribe 100 spells in here, the 100th would count as 5th, 10th, 25th, 50th and 100th, if that makes sense."
21:00 <Skaya> "Sanda! You really won the jackpot now!" Skaya cheers, patting her friend's shoulder excitedly. "You can cast spells with your muscles!"
21:01 <•Kotono> Sanda's eyes sparkle, "I don't need to, but even the blessed book part is amazing. I want it, I want it, Iw ant it!" she gushes, "The advantages to it are statistically huge!"
21:01 <•Kotono> Anne chuckles a little, "It's of no great use to any of us but Sanda, anyway."
21:01 <Skaya> "And the ability to drain away common sense for martial power? Truly magical!"
21:01 <•Kotono> That dims Anne's amusement and she quietly pinches the bridge of her nose with two fingers.
21:02 <•Kotono> Rina pats Anne's shoulder once before, "Still, now what?"
21:02 <Skaya> "I know I told you that fighting in melee with your staff was a suboptimal option, but now-- but now! You can do it! I believe in you!"
21:04 <•Devar> "Um, Skaya wanted to check out the horrible golem thing that ate all the items and see if it died." Devar says. "We also still have the fire we can investigate, though as a warning, if we do, we probably won't be able to go back to the frozen wastes if anyone gets any boons from it."
21:04 <Skaya> "I actually think the ice gatekeeper will just swap that for cold again. He seemed very chill."
21:05 <•Devar> "Oh, that's true. We can just say we 'ran into some fire elementals' or something." Devar says with a nod.
21:06 <•Kotono> "We've had some close calls. We should as if we even should," Anne points out, "We've gathered most of the great gains besides that sword that I think Starre said Rina liked?"
21:06 <Skaya> "I'll just say the truth, that I robbed fire of some stuff and wanted to convert it to superior cold stuff."
21:06 <•Devar> "If we did decide to do that, warding against fire and being ready to heal is ideal. I'm mostly tapped on my instant healing for today but still have plenty of ability to channel energy if need be, and I can loan the ring to Anne too." Devar says.
21:08 <•Kotono> "I'd like to get that sword at the least," Rina says, "We still have to deal with those tasks in the cold city."
21:08 <Skaya> At Anne's words, Skaya pauses in thought. "There's the Quartz Staff and Crystalwind Cloak. I feel we might find them, but it's dependent on luck. The sword you mentioned, and the regeneration scroll with the ankhegs.  But the deep blue and the blue fire have the best rewards, even if they're the scariest."
21:09 <•Devar> "I should be able to handle the deep blue situation. I can breathe underwater and am pretty good at talking." Devar says. "And the elemental protected me against cold rather well, so I think I ought to be able to manage it, we just have to find the right place."
21:10 <Skaya> "Well. It's more that it'd require a heavy protection from cold and horrible creatures like that ice dragon are there and don't like guests. I think you'll die, Devar. Our best choice is the blue fire! And also getting the treasure from that huge monster, and maybe the ankhegs. The rest heavily turns on luck."
21:11 <•Devar> "Starre did say that the deep blue was more about talking than fighting, so I think it would be okay." Devar says.
21:12 <Skaya> "I... think she was talking about the warm water, Devar."
21:12 <•Devar> "Oh. Well I can handle that too." He confirms.
21:12 — Skaya taps her lips thoughtfully. "Yeah, that's where the golden sword is."
21:12 <•Kotono> "If we aren't sure, it's alright to cut our losses and move onward," Anne points out here, "Keep risking and eventually we'll lose."
21:13 <Skaya> "Oh! There are two swords. Goldenfang, somewhere under warm water, and the yuki onna's frozen blade. We should go for a swim!"
21:14 <•Devar> Devar nods. "I imagine the warm water is in the fire city somewhere, or at least it would stand to reason that it is."
21:14 <•Kotono> "Either way," Rina concludes, "There is more to find."
21:14 <Skaya> "I think it might be where you went for a swim originally. Except... you were attacked?"
21:15 <•Devar> "I was attacked after I went through the canal water to the city itself." Devar says. "By some weirdo on a wyvern."
21:16 <Skaya> "Maybe you need to dive down instead? We can try that after fire! I really want to go to fire now!"
21:18 <•Devar> Devar nods. "That's fine. I think...? I'm all right now, but if I'm with everyone else, if I have any further complications at least that's safer." He says.
21:21 <•Kotono> "Then let's go!" Sanda exclaims, "We can find even more if we keep going!"

21:30 <•Kotono> As you go, suddenly Devar feels dizzy. He can hear Anne call his name, but everything's wrong and tastes of stomach bile, and the darkness rushes up to consume him. To the others, they see Devar suddenly stagger and start to fall, Anne moving to catch him as he bonelessly collapses. "Skaya, hold him and make sure he doesn't stop breathing. I need to change into Oathplate, he needs a serious
21:30 <•Kotono> healer's eye."
21:31 <Skaya> "Got it," Skaya agrees, helping out. "He got knocked out before as well, but a healthy dose of electricity brought him back."
21:32 <•Kotono> Rina goes to help Anne out of her current armor and into Oathplate. Sanda lingers back before, "He'd better be alright," she mutters, "It wouldn't be fair for something to happen now!"
21:33 <•Kotono> Once done, Anne kneels next to Devar, "I'll do my best," shesays, beginning to work away.

21:35 <•Kotono> Devar is checked over, Anne's frown becoming deeper and deeper. "Whatever's poisoned him is exotic. I'm not entirely sure what's happening," she confesses, "But I can treat him and try to help him purge it. We need to get somewhere as safe as possible. That's how you can help, Skaya."
21:35 <Skaya> "Let's return to the ice gatekeeper!"
21:37 <•Kotono> A brisk nod at that, "Fine, but if he wants a pet human, you're taking that arrow."
21:38 <Skaya> "I'm really not. It'll be fine, though!"

21:41 <•Kotono> You reach Ice. You find the elemental isn't alone. The ice spirit is there, the two speaking in the creak of ice and sigh of winter winds. Anne barely even glances as she has Devar put down to the side, while Ice turns. "Oh hello there, you came back. Good human!" A frosty chuckle, "Oh, is your friend not well?"
21:41 <Skaya> "An evil trash mummy from Ooze poisoned him, I'm afraid. We didn't even get a chance to rob stuff from Fire and kill their minions!"
21:42 <•Kotono> "Ooze." A crackle of icy displeasure, "So filthy. You can put ice there and it gets so terribly dirty."
21:42 <Skaya> "It's so full of diseases! So horrible!"

21:44 <•Kotono> OOC: 36 total, I presume you'll take the higher result, DevaR?
21:44 <•Devar> OOC: Yes, correct. Oh and you're also correct, the roll would've been 20 in my case.
21:46 <•Kotono> As they work Anne pours a bit of water down Devar's throat and massages his throat to swallow, then with a careful eye, sharply jabs him in the stomach and then sternum just so. Devar lets out a horrible gasp and Anne quickly flips him aside, as Devar empties his stomach. Green-brown liquid, similiar to the ooze you saw before, is expelled. "I don't even know how I knew to do that," Anne remarks
21:46 <•Kotono> as she pats Devar's back, as awareness comes back to him. "But my body knew what to do."
21:47 <Skaya> "Nicely done!" Skaya congratulates Anne, before giving Ice an apologetic look. "Sorry about the mess."
21:47 <•Kotono> "Oh, is that how you humans know how to hunt or build cities? You just know?" The elemental asks, "That's adorable to see you hunt andb uild things without ice or cold."
21:47 <•Kotono> "It's fine, it's fine. It'll freeze and ice can fix anything," Is the elemental's response after.
21:48 <•Kotono> "Breathe, Devar," Anne murmurs to him, "Breathe. You're alive, the poison got to you."
21:48 <•Devar> "...I can't say I love coming to twice in awful circumstances." He murmurs. "I didn't do anything weird this time, right?"
21:49 <•Kotono> "Nothing like that," Anne smiles as Sanda takes a chance to rest.
21:49 <Skaya> "You threw up a lot of green crap," Skaya informs Devar. "You're probably good now?"
21:50 <•Devar> "Well, that's good at least. I still feel terrible, but I should be good enough to-- oh, hello again." He says, raising a hand weakly in greeting to the ice spirit. "Hey, now's probably not exactly the most elegant time to ask," He looks over at Skaya. "Didn't Starre mention she might know about the sword? Or maybe she'd know where the cloak is."
21:51 <Skaya> "There are two swords Starre talked about, this yuki onna sword and the goldenfang or something underwater sword."
21:54 <•Devar> "We were told about a sword that was protected by a yuki onna that might be here." Devar says, slowly moving to get back to his feet. "If you happen to know anything, we'd be grateful."
21:55 <•Kotono> "Oh, you just missed her," Is the answer, then a call in that crackling, frosty language. The ice spirit regathers, "Oh, these ones are asking about a sword."
21:56 <Skaya> "It's a permanently frozen sword. I don't suppose you know anything?" Skaya voices. "It seems like it would be excellent to stab fire with!"
21:56 <•Devar> "Hello again." Devar says with a slightly more wobbly bow than he'd probably like.
21:58 <•Kotono> The answer comes...next time! OOC: It's just about time and I'm getting sneezy, so it's a good point. We'll do more Saturday.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Corwin

18:06 <•Kotono> "Accomplish my request, and I shall tell you," Is the answer you get. OOC: Was a sec looking something up.
18:10 <Devar> "Well, if we have any hope of dealing with that awful dragon, we'll probably have to come up with a plan." Devar says. "Maybe we can find something."
18:12 <•Kotono> "We'd need some way to face it ont he ground, "Anne considers, "Otherwise we're at a massive disadvantage."
18:14 <Devar> "Let's head back to what we were going to explore first. There might be something in that golem we can use, or the warm waters." Devar says.
18:15 <•Kotono> "Are you well enough?" Anne asks bluntly, "If you need time, best to take that time."
18:16 <Devar> "I'm certainly not at my best, but I don't plan on doing anything reckless." He says. "If I have another episode, even after..." He gestures over to what he threw up, "Then I'll stop and rest. But for now it should be all right."
18:16 <•Kotono> "You did take a beating," Rina points out, "But I dislike wasting more time down here, too."
18:16 <•Kotono> "Anything else reckless," Anne appends to that, "Very well."
18:16 <Skaya> "I'll follow consensus," Skaya voices here.
18:18 <•Kotono> "Then great!" Sanda pipes up, "We have more treasure to get."
18:21 <•Kotono> "Then let's go," Rina agrees with that, "Which way first?"
18:24 <Devar> "Hmm." Devar thinks, perhaps for a little longer than it ought to take to make a decision. "Let's see if we can find that golem? That should be the easiest task, both in terms of difficulty and potential difficulty, if it's just... dead like Starre said it'd be?"
18:25 <•Kotono> With that the group goes off and...

18:26 <•Kotono> The trip back is silent. There's no sign of the monsterw hen you return, only broken ruin - and the glass shop is completely collapsed, broken completely.
18:27 — Skaya steps inside cautiously and looks for treasures!
18:28 <Devar> "It shouldn't be too hard to follow it if we need to... it wasn't exactly subtle." He says.
18:29 <•Kotono> As the glass shop is completely collasped, stepping inside doesn't work.
18:32 <Skaya> OOC: It used to lead to other buildings, all of them have collapsed into a massive pile?
18:33 <•Kotono> OOC: The glass shop's collapsed, yes. The one this one came from, anyway.
18:34 — Skaya decides to see whether she can follow the trail of destruction. It seemed like a pretty large golem!
18:34 <Skaya> OOC: Survival? If so, 10 for 23
18:35 <Devar> Devar will watch from the air in case of anything of note can be seen from there!
18:37 <•Kotono> The others stay back and watchas Skaya sniffs around. From the looks of it, it went back inside from what she can tell.  Devar can see the air is fairly calm, but from above, can see there's a few holes in the roof, hidden from street level, that seem to go inside.
18:42 <Skaya> "Do you see anything from up there?" Skaya calls over to Devar, glancing up at him. If not, she'll climb the wreckage!
18:42 <Devar> "Yeah, there are some holes in the roof. Let me help you all get up here." He says - he will fly back down and carry anyone who needs help to get up - up!
18:43 <Skaya> "Let's go!"
18:46 <•Kotono> Ferrying goes well enough. This back room of the glass shop is intact - barely. THe way out from this way is caved in, but passage further ahead, through a single door, survives. Anne glances back, "Well, that answers the question of one problem. If only all our problems were so considerate."
18:46 <•Kotono> "Like trying to get kids to eat properly and not run off," Rina comments, "And about as successful."
18:47 — Skaya explores the passage further ahead!
18:47 <•Kotono> The door does not open.
18:48 <Skaya> "Hey, that happened before too!" Skaya exclaims, before checking the door. Does it swing open inwards or outwards? If inwards, is it blocked by something? Is it warped and stuck in the frame? Is it just locked?
18:50 <•Kotono> Outwards. It simply does not move for reasons Skaya doesn't see an obvious reason for.
18:50 <•Kotono> "It does seem to happen some here," Sanda remarks, "What are the odds there's treasure past that versus disaster?
18:50 <•Kotono> "
18:50 <•Kotono> "Would anyonew ith a working brain take that bet?" Anne comments dryly.
18:50 — Skaya removes the hinges to see if the door can just be taken out.
18:51 <•Kotono> "In here? Not a chance," Sanda agrees. Skaya finds that the hinges do not move. IN spite of all logic, they stay where they are.
18:51 <•Kotono> "Though that's an odd thing," Sanda then adds.
18:51 <Skaya> "Actually," Skaya muses, pausing briefly in her unsuccessful efforts, "even if this didn't lead to treasure I really want to open this door. In fact, any locked doors. I want to open them all! This is one of the few places this is socially acceptable!"
18:51 <Devar> "Given how this place works? Probably a 100% chance of danger, and 50% chance of the other stuff." Devar says. "Last time we had a door like this there was something that opened it close by... but then it led to that awful magic bandage."
18:52 <Skaya> Making a fist and imbuing it with magic, Skaya tries to punch through the door! Isn't it made of wood? She's stronger than wood!
18:57 <•Kotono> Surprisingly, the door simply gives to physical force. A punch breaks the door in half, and both halves are sucked inward. Beyond it is a roiling, jagged edged gash in reality. A swirling white-purple vortex that shows a kaledioscope of images beyond. Of the forests, deserts, oceans, lakes, rivers, plains, towns, villages, fields of crops, dark caverns. The images constantly flicker and swap
18:57 <•Kotono> around, new images supplied almost as fast as any of you can blink.
18:57 <Skaya> "No." Skaya firmly decides and backs away quickly.
18:57 <•Kotono> "What in-" Anne matches Skaya without further comment.
18:58 <•Kotono> Sanda doesn't. Her eyes glitter with reflected light from the gash. "Oh, is that an unstable portal of some kind? Did that golem's death destabilize some of the summoning effect here?"

18:59 <•Kotono> Something comes through. A splash of icy cold water, along with several white crabs and various fish. They thrash about, the fishd oomed and the crabs skittering around.
18:59 <Skaya> "It ate our treasure and broke everything! Get way back!" Skaya yells, grabbing Sanda and tossing her to Devar.
19:00 <Devar> Devar looks a bit surprised to suddenly be holding a Sanda, but does his diligence to get away with her. "Didn't we see this same sort of thing before we came here?" He asks. "Remember - that soldier that just appeared right in front of us?"
19:01 <•Kotono> Sanda struggles a little in protest, "I really want to see it," she complains, "That's not something you see every day!"
19:01 <Skaya> "It's very unsafe so let's get some distance from it! It wasn't safe back then either!"

19:02 <Devar> "I feel bad for the fish." Devar laments unhelpfully.
19:03 <Skaya> "Devar, please move," Skaya begs, since showing urgency clearly isn't working.
19:04 <Devar> "I did!" He protests - but flies up to get back to the hole with Sanda in tow.
19:04 <•Kotono> Anne readies her shield and creeps back further, while Sanda looks wistfully at the portal, "And now rocks! It might reach across the entire world!" Her protests fade as Devar flies up and away with her. Just in time for...

19:07 <Devar> "I wonder if this is how some of the denizens got here?" Devar asks. He puts Sanda down on the roof. "Here, let me help you guys get out of there - we don't want to get hit by something dangerous." He says as he will go back to help anyone who needs help up - up!

19:14 <Devar> "I mean we can just wait here and see if anything useful comes out. I really don't think we have a lot to worry about from some wolves." Devar says. "Unless we want to just go?"
19:14 <Skaya> "It's not ideal," Skaya agrees with Anne, focusing on total defense while standing in front of her. To Devar, she says, "We definitely want to go. Anne first."
19:16 <•Kotono> However, the wolves aren't idle, and they approach the two down below. OOC: Init. Sanda and Rina are evaced onto the roof, Devar is with them, and the other two ladies are 30ft away.

19:24 <Devar> "I'm kind of with Anne on this one, but I'll defer to you Skaya!" Devar calls out, going down to grab Anne and take her up to the roof with the others.

IT roars more like a dragont han a bear, the wolves yelping loudly. Bony protrusions can be glimpsed poking out at places, and deer's antlers poke out of its head.  OOC: Joining init.

19:29 <•Kotono> The other wolf whimpers and flees to the side, getting distance from that bear. OOC: Skaya.
19:29 <Skaya> Since everyone was recovered, Skaya decides to try climbing up the ruins! The wolves and the bear can fight it out between themselves.
19:30 <Devar> "What the heck is that thing!?" Devar shouts. OOC: Take 10 on K:N(??) if appropriate for 22 to identify the bear in plate armor?????, or if another knowledge is appropriate those are all 22 too.
19:30 <Skaya> OOC: Climb 10 for 29, my base land speed is 60ft
19:31 <•Kotono> Devar can tell it's a dire bear - but not an ordinary one. Those don't normally wear armor or have deer antlers. Meanwhile Skaya scrambled up the wall, making it about halfway through tough going. The last wolf likewise retreats to the side as the bear roars again, as Anne readies herself with a grim look. Just int ime for...OOC: Devar.
19:32 <Devar> Devar will move over to help fly Skaya the rest of the way up!
19:35 <•Kotono> Devar darts back down and gets Skaya out the rest of the way up. Sanda stares down but lets out a sigh, "Well, that's-!" She stops cold as the bear leaps. White light surrounds its feet as sparkling butterfly wings of light propel it up, up and up. It's coming upward, managing a backflip before landing on the opposite side of the roof as the group. It roars again, a dark, savage smile on its
19:35 <•Kotono> ursine face.
19:35 <•Kotono> "It-It's a bear magi! Like an ogre magi but a thousand times worse!" Sanda blurts out.
19:35 <Skaya> "Is it valuable? Can we sell the fur or the antlers or the heart?"

19:38 <Skaya> "I'll take that as a yes." Skaya sighs. "Maybe the full plate will be magical?"

19:42 <Kobot> Skaya rolled 2d4+2+5 --> [ 2d4=5 ]{12}
19:43 <•Kotono> As the missiles hit the bear barely even reacts, while at the same time Sanda chants a few words under her breath. OOC: True Strike for next round in case it comes in and gets in melee range. More for Rina.
19:44 <•Kotono> Init is Skaya = Rina = Sanda (22) > Wolf 2 (21) > Anne (17) > Wolf 3 (10) > Devar (9) > Angry Bear (7) > ???? (5) > Wolf 1 (3)
19:45 <•Kotono> Rina stays back, eyeing it warily as it holds its own against missiles. Anne, for her part, takes a deep breath and prepares. OOC: Readying the healing, since she knows how this is probably gonna go. The wolves down there aren't doinga nything meaningful right now. Devar, go.
19:48 <Devar> "We don't want to fight you, but if you're going to attack us, we'll defend ourselves!" Devar calls out. "You know magic, so I'm sure you're smart enough to understand Common!" He moves over to take a swing at the bear, testing both its resilience and the power of this armor it's got!

19:48 <Kobot> Devar rolled 1d20+9 bonk --> [ 1d20=3 ]{12}
19:50 <•Kotono> A complete miss. What's worse is that the bear reacts, a near perfect counterattack right at Devar. OOC: This is a reaction and not its turn, just to be clear.
19:51 <•Kotono> roll 1d20+21

19:59 <•Kotono> Devar is smacked hard, more of a backhand that leaves Devar's entire face a blaze of pain. He's bleeding and hurt from it, just in time for the bear to tear into Devar. AT the same time Anne takes her held action, starting to move and drawing her holy symbol, running across the side of the roof and getting closer to Devar as...

20:01 <•Kotono> Devar manages to frantically dodge most of it, but another claw gets him across the side. At the same time healing mostly undoes it, Anne's channeling enough to prevent worse. OOC: Adjusting init, but more.

20:02 <•Kotono> Meanwhile, something happens below with the portal, but the party's obviously too busy to care right now. OOC: Wolf's move isn't important. Skaya and friends.
20:06 <Skaya> With a grim look on her face, Skaya shoots more missiles at the bear.
20:06 <Skaya> roll 2d4+2+5
20:06 <Kobot> Skaya rolled 2d4+2+5 --> [ 2d4=6 ]{13}
20:10 <•Kotono> The missiles strike but the bear takes them well. Meanwhile Rina scowls but goes the opposite way as Anne, looping around the other side and not leaving Devar on his own. Not quite there yet, going long and positoining carefully. Sanda meanwhile utters strange words and vanishes, appearing near Rina. OOC: Sucks to waste at rue strike, but that was more just in case and it didn't go the way she
20:10 <•Kotono> guessed. Devar, go.
20:11 <Devar> Devar goes full on the defensive - ready to protect his friends from this weird and possibly evil magic bear! OOC: Total defense, AC goes to what is effectively 35 against melee.
20:15 <•Kotono> Just int ime, for the bear takes the chance - to withdraw as it's surrounded. It withdraws across, fleeing quick, and landing a mere 10ft behind Skaya. Skaya can feel its hot breath from here, a fetid stench that turns her stomach. It stares her down like a starving man sseeing a buffet, readyt o tear in. OOC: Withdrew to get out of being attacked all around. More.
20:16 <•Kotono> Anne stares at it as it flees, a look of tired annoyance as she just reaches Devar.  OOC: Portal.

20:17 <Devar> "Hey, your target's over here!" Devar shouts.
20:18 — Skaya relies on her acrobatic skills to retreat towards Devar, sending more missiles towards the bear.

20:18 <Skaya> roll 2d4+2+5
20:18 <Kobot> Skaya rolled 2d4+2+5 --> [ 2d4=3 ]{10}
20:19 <•Kotono> Skaya retreats deftly, more missiles hitting the bear. Rina scowls but holds a moment, "We just going to play keepaway?" she asks quickly.
20:19 <Devar> "If it has to keep running around, that's for the best!" Devar shouts. "It's no slouch!"
20:19 <Skaya> "If it regenerates, we lose. If it doesn't, we win."
20:26 <•Kotono> Rina starts to chase it once more, as Sanda this time holds position a moment. OOC: Sanda holding to be reactive if it flies again. Rina chasing but positoining so not quite there yet. Devar, go.
20:29 <Devar> Devar will move in front of Skaya - in the melee range of the bear again, and take a defensive posture!
20:30 <Devar> "Are you another one of this world's creatures?" He calls out. "Just playing a part for whoever created this?"
20:30 <Devar> He doesn't really expect a reply, but who knows!
20:30 <•Kotono> Just in time. The bear doesn't lash out. Instead it gestures and suddenly Devar and Rina  feel strange before...oOC: Fort saves, both of you. Remember to factor in your -con to it, Devar.

20:35 <•Kotono> Pain as thorns erupt from Devar and Rina's bodies. For Rina's it's minor, but for Devar they're big, thick thorns. What's worse is that from the tips vines snake out, plunging down and into the ground, pinning him place. He's unable to move, at least as it is now. OOC: Devar is effectively paralyzed, though he can attempt to free himself with a Strength check or other means on his turn. Anne.
20:36 <•Kotono> Anne grimaces and runs over once more, and calls, "Jetina, help us all!" she cries, as healing comes to Devar once more.

19:30 <•Kotono> Sanda withdraws towards Anne, staggering and leaving a trail of blood. She holds her chest with one hand, leaning on her staff as she coughs up more blood. "A-anne..." she stumbles towards her. At the same time Rina dashes in and out, hitting the bear's flank with a quick strike.

20:10 <•Kotono> CRACK! A final blow and the bear staggers from the blow to the chest. It stumbles back and falls. As it does, the armor on it falls away, clattering to the ground. It shifts, becomes much smaller. An elven woman, nude save for a few scraps of old cloth and some accessories. One of them is a silver tiara with a big brown gemstone set in, which cracks and smokes once she hits the ground. A loud,
20:10 <•Kotono> bestial roar rumbles from it as the color drains from the gem, which becomes little more than fragments and ash. Otherwise, you can see a gold ring, a silver pendant with heart locket and several small, sparkling gemstones set into her body at various points. Her body is broken and eyes empty, blood flowing freely. OOC: Free act.
20:10 <Devar> "It was just a druid!?" Devar shouts.
20:10 <•Kotono> Sanda staggers up and slams her staff into her head. Once, twice, thrice.
20:11 <•Kotono> Anne draws in a weak breath, "Gather around. I think I only have one more group recovery in me, and that's optimistic."
20:11 <Skaya> "Fucking why," Skaya curses, sliding to her knees as all of her tension just disappears.
20:12 <•Kotono> "So pointless. Why?" Rina echos, coming up to it and stabbing down. A heart wound and then a head wound to join its half pupled head from Sanda's loving attention. Ensuring the battle is won before, "At least she has treasure."
20:12 <•Kotono> "Had, technically speaking," Sanda leans on her staff afterwards.
20:12 — Skaya painfully makes her way over to Anne.

20:15 <Skaya> "Damn," Skaya mutters. "Thanks, Anne, Devar. I'll get our spoils and we'll get far away from here."
20:15 <•Kotono> Wounds heal and recovery comes. Sanda hits the corpse a few more times to be sure, then begins methodically removing the treasure from her. "I'll give you a hand. We need to rest if Anne's that spent."
20:15 <Devar> Devar will look over and down into the area that used to have the portal!
20:16 <Skaya> "But not here," Skaya insists. "I'll carry her if I have to." Still, they need to get the treasure that almost got them killed!
20:16 <•Kotono> "Funny that walking out of Dareslan with nothing and after a monster like Brachidos is the safer option Starre got," Rina snarks, as Devar looks down. The portal is gone and the door to it has slammed shut.
20:17 <Devar> Are the wolves that used to be there there or are they gone?
20:17 <Skaya> "I don't know about safer."
20:17 <•Kotono> They're down and not moving.
20:17 <•Kotono> "Regardless, we need to decide where to fall back to," Rina goes on, "Right now we're exhausted and easy pickings."
20:18 <Skaya> "So long as the portal's operational here, the top of the orange fire mountain should work," Skaya muses. "It's close enough and few would fight us there."
20:19 <•Kotono> "As long as the elemental on guard leaves us be," Rina agrees, as she goes to heft up Anne. She grimaces, "Devar, could you help me with her?"
20:20 <Devar> "We should probably avoid the bigger ones if we can, since we got Ice-touched." Devar says as he moves to help Rina.
20:22 <Skaya> "We're definitely avoiding the elemental guards, they don't want us coming up the mountain," Skaya agrees. "Ah, if we find the blue fire, that'd be the best place to rest."

20:25 <•Kotono> The trip there? Surprisingly peaceful after all of that at least. Tired and still injured, the party makes it to the orange fire mountaintop safe and intact. Anne's groaning by now, at least awake enough to say, "Don't even think about it. I'm almost completely exhausted for healing for some time."
20:25 <•Kotono> "Were any of us thinking about it right now?" Rina asks, glancing back and forth. Sanda pauses a long moment there, before clearing her throat.
20:26 <•Kotono> "Statistically speaking, of course none of us were, right?" Sanda quickly asserts.
20:26 <Skaya> "I was thinking about it, but because there's a stronger, better fire around, I wasn't going to do it."
20:27 <•Kotono> Anne nods tiredly and slumps back, "Does anyone else need healing right now?" she asks, "Otherwise, someone kindly help set up my bedroll."
20:27 <•Kotono> "Oh, then I was thinking about it too," Sanda admits, but goes to help with that.
20:27 <Devar> "I'll be fine with some rest." Devar assures her. "I've got it." He says to the others and will help Anne with that.
20:27 — Skaya helps set up Anne's bedroll.
20:27 <Devar> Along with everyone else, apparently!
20:28 <•Kotono> "Don't make me go on a healing strike," Anne threatens tiredly, as everyone gets in place to camp. Any to dos while the party recovers, barring any possible interrupts?
20:29 <Skaya> OOC: Skaya will bug Devar to use his healing on her if they're resting
20:30 <Devar> OOC: I have like 12 more channel energies so topping her off isn't an issue
20:30 <Skaya> OOC: Thanks! Then let's identify the stuff we got and rest.

20:33 <•Kotono> OOC: Sure, doing loot updates, will be a few at that.
20:38 <•Kotono> OOC: Updated.
20:40 <Skaya> OOC: Awesome! Let's go!
20:52 <•Kotono> Later that evening, as everyone rests, "We need to prepare for tomorrow," Anne sits up, "Devar, will you need restorations?"
20:54 <Devar> "I should be able to get by on the ones I can use." Devar says. "Some bedrest will help."
20:55 <Skaya> "On the plus side, we'll be stronger! In fact, being set on fire while wearing that bear pendant will make everything go better!"
20:55 <•Kotono> "Hopefully it doesn't melt in the fires," Anne muses aloud.
20:55 <Skaya> "That's just the risk that pendant will have to take."
20:56 <•Kotono> OOC: Okay then. I've added Oath strike/plate to Anne's sheet. Any other treasure you wish to distribute?
20:56 — Skaya looks at Anne and Sanda thoughtfully, then. "Though this is actually a great point. Why not prepare a couple of those Bear spells for tomorrow?"
20:57 <Skaya> OOC: Tome to Sanda
20:57 <•Kotono> "I already plan to, one for myself," Anne answers, "In case I need to use that pendant."
20:58 <•Kotono> OOC: Tome takes time to be useful, that's more of a post adventure thing, but noted.
20:58 <Skaya> "Can I get one too, in case I find a fire I really like?"
20:59 <•Kotono> OOC: That's not how it works. It's having the spell prepared or known, depending on your casting type, not having it cast on you and active.
20:59 <Devar> "Actually, that's a good point - Sanda, if you can help me scribe that into my own book, I can use the pendant regularly in the future." Devar says. "I have a feeling Rina and myself can't step into the fire again without having some adverse effect due to Ice's influence, but maybe the blue fire is different somehow."
21:00 <Skaya> OOC: I want her to prepare two of them so that when she casts one on me she still has one prepared for the pendant
21:00 <•Kotono> OOC: Okay then, fair enough.
21:01 <Skaya> "Right, so here's my proposal. Let's go all in for the blue fire. This place is dangerous so if we find the blue fire, we can pretty much leave since the rest is way too risky for us to try. So fire resistance, fire protection, spells to search for the hidden and what not."
21:03 <•Kotono> "Right, we go towards the blue fire," Sanda agrees, "We can try."
21:03 <•Kotono> "Very well," Anne doesn't argue.
21:03 <•Kotono> Rina hms, "At the least, it's worth trying," she agrees. "Aim for it and see."
21:04 <Skaya> "Right? The only other doable thing is the sword in the warm waters, but Devar swam there and didn't find anything. In any case, that's a solo quest, so it's up to Devar if he gives it a try later. And the rest depends heavily on luck to find a repeating bakery, a fight against unkillable hordes of smart bugs, fighting something on the level of that ice dragon for another sword or yet more similar danger by diving into a frozen lake."
21:05 <Devar> "I can scout around after we handle the fire and see if I can find the warm waters. A good bit of rest and some restorations and I ought to be back to my normal self." He agrees.
21:06 <Skaya> "Then it sounds like a plan."
21:07 <•Kotono> With that the party continues to rest and...

21:11 — Skaya swiftly moves to wake up Rina. The others are casters or really need their recovery, but Rina could handle some rough treatment and be on guard with her if it's dangerous.
21:14 <•Kotono> Rina rises and grabs her sword - but even that takes too much time. The ripple opens and then closes - but not before dropping in what looks to be a...large dresser drawer. Well made, too.
21:14 <Skaya> Amazing! Skaya examines its contents. Rina's up to keep them guarded.
21:19 <•Kotono> Amid a few yawns from Rina, Skaya checks it. Just some clothes. Men's clothes, nice enough. Definitely not a peasant's wear, someone with some money. As you look it over, "Maybe it missed something more important?"
21:19 <Skaya> "I did want some new clothes. I guess borrowing an outfit here is better than my original plan of sacrificing a blanket."
21:21 <•Kotono> "Maybe whatever this is has a sense of modesty?" Rina yawns, "But if that's it, I'm going to try and get some more sleep."
21:22 <Skaya> "Yeah, thanks." It's not the portal to blue fire. But maybe the blue fire is near!
21:24 <•Kotono> WIth that the night passes and recovery comes, and...OOC: Healing for the night's rest as appropriate. Mostly relevant for Devar's ability damage. Go ahead and fix that up plus any lesser restores first of all.

21:31 <Devar> OOC: yeah, it's just strength damage

21:37 <Skaya> "The elemental guards never did talk with us, either," Skaya says dejectedly. "The chances of lucking out by meeting a regular one are so slim... I guess we can just try to search this place again for any distortions."

19:09 <•Kotono> It's a ltitle line stretched down, opened just enough for a small or medium creature to wiggle through. A narrow corridor that goes on a little ways until a slope down. Heat haze wafts off from below, distorting the view. It'll be single file ahead.
19:10 <•Kotono> Rina peers in, "Looks like either the way forward or a death trap."
19:10 <•Kotono> "Could be both," Sanda sniffs, "Odds are it's both."
19:10 <Skaya> "Embrace the healing power of 'both', yes," Skaya agrees, leading the way.
19:11 <•Kotono> Anne takes a breath, "Sometimes I wish I were as Moore, small and gifted with innate flight. I would not be so contrained within."
19:11 <•Kotono> OOC: Okay, what sort of order are y'all going in here? Bear in mind it's very much single file.
19:11 <Devar> "There are spells to shrink things and make things larger." Devar says. "Not that it really helps us with the current situation. Do you want to send someone in to scout it out first?"
19:13 <Skaya> "Most of us can just wait back here as I see how far this goes," Skaya proposes, agreeing with Devar. "Just cast fire resistance on me?"
19:17 <•Kotono> Sanda steps forward, a quick spell cast on you. OOC: Resist energy, resistance 10 to fire.
19:18 <Skaya> "Be right back! I hope!" And then she's off.
19:20 <•Kotono> Off Skaya goes. It's wiggling and tight, but she makes it to the slope down.
19:20 <•Kotono> AOOC: Gah.
19:21 <•Kotono> Off Skaya goes. It's wiggling and tight, but she makes it to the slope down. A dull red glow lights the way within from the depths. Warmth rises up from below, a steady bellow of heat. It's not a little slope either, and going down is going to be a trisk of a fall.
19:23 <Skaya> She's perfectly balanced! Magically so! And she does have decent skills. But going back up could be an issue, and if Skaya runs into a path that would be quite difficult to scale back she'll spend the time to make some footholds or outright use her rope if it goes for a good while. She has two lengths of rope, after all.
19:23 <•Kotono> OOC: Refresh me on how your boots help?
19:24 <Skaya> OOC: Boots are regular boots but Bastia's Belt ignores difficult terrain and hazards that make me fall
19:25 <•Kotono> OOC: Thank you. I thought I had that wrong after I typed it.
19:27 <•Kotono> With Bastia's Belt and good balance, Skay aisn't at risk at fall. It's getting hot fast, but so far resistance holds. It takes three rounds to get down with her belt assisted sure footing, and at the bottom? A ripple. Another slope going down, the heat more intense already. Behind you is the way you came except not, a passage out seen.
19:29 — Skaya glances back, since she's still in the safe zone. Did the path she took disappear, and was replaced by a different one?
19:31 <•Kotono> It's just gone. No sign of it at all.
19:32 <•Kotono> OOC: Go ahead to #evil, Devar, since it's now looking like Skaya might be a bit.
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

Corwin

19:32 <•Kotono> Waiting.  Anne lingers outside, eyes on the way you came. Rina keeps watch while Sanda rests, looking up to Devar. "You look like you're feeling better today."
19:35 <Devar> "Well, I haven't been poisoned by any magical bedrolls today, or puked up my intestines." He says with a smile. "So today's looking to be a much brighter day than yesterday. I still wonder what that creature even was... the Knight of Disease I fought seemed to be something the creator of this entire place had under their sway in some capacity... but other things here seem to just be... here.
19:35 <Devar> It's strange... like all the doors we find that go nowhere, or have some sort of planar boundary. Are things just arriving here randomly, or is there some order to it?"
19:38 <•Kotono> "I suspect there's an order to it," Anne muses, "But it's not entirely right. Something's gone awry."
19:38 <•Kotono> Sanda sighs before, "Well, that's my guess on it. That or an insane wizard did it. Even odds of either."
19:38 <•Kotono> Rina can't help but groan, "I really hope all of this isn't working as designed. Who even does this? An archmage's archmage?"
19:39 <•Kotono> "Lunatics," Sanda says firmly.
19:39 <•Kotono> "Actually, I've known a few good Lunatics," Anne comments off handedly, getting looks from the other two. After a beat, "Traveling Selunites that are part of a particular order called the Lunatics."
19:40 <•Kotono> "They really needed to think that name over better," Rina snarks.
19:40 <Devar> "Well, what we heard from Starre seems to indicate whatever it is is maybe... I don't know what the right word is, foreign?" Devar suggests. "It sounded like this was kind of a dream of it, and I wonder if it's somehow just... trying to communicate or something? I don't know what the right terminology would be to describe it - but it's far too coincidental that there's been things we find
19:40 <Devar> here that we can all make full and complete use of."
19:46 <•Kotono> "It's definitely not random," Anne agrees at that, "The equipment, flaws and all, are far too useful."
19:47 <•Kotono> "Is far too useful," Sanda corrects, getting Anne to pinch the bridge of her nose. Smiling at that, "But it is far too useful. Even the odd things can be helpful in their ways. Well, except the disease equipment, but we can make sure it doens't hur tanyone."
19:47 <Devar> "It doesn't explain the stuff we're definitely not going to use, though." Devar says. "Like that diseased armor? What can we do with that besides melt it down and hope it never sees the light of day? Maybe when we get back the Mystrans can help us purify it in some way or something."
19:49 <Devar> "And that may just be a byproduct of where we are." Devar says. "I feel like this place definitely has to be some sort of border between the Elemental Planes themselves - there was a door right to one of them... or close enough, anyway." He adds. "So then the question becomes... maybe the thing that's at the core of all of this, in that Maelstrom, is some sort of... omni-elemental?" Devar
19:49 <Devar> suggests. "What if it was something that got exposed to every Elemental plane?"
19:51 <•Kotono> roll 1d20+12 Sanda's got the right mix of skills for this check
19:51 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d20+12 Sanda's got the right mix of skills for this check --> [ 1d20=9 ]{21}
19:51 <•Kotono> roll 1d20+9 K:P Anne does too
19:51 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d20+9 K:P Anne does too --> [ 1d20=6 ]{15}
19:51 <•Kotono> roll 1d20+14 K:R Anne does too
19:51 <Kobot> Kotono rolled 1d20+14 K:R Anne does too --> [ 1d20=15 ]{29}
19:52 <•Kotono> Anne clicks her tongue at that. "That rings a bell. One of the Godsrush. Oh, oh, oh..." she snaps her fingers several times.
19:52 <•Kotono> "Seira?" Sanda's voice isn't certain, "I think I remember something about that."
19:52 <•Kotono> "That's it, Seira!" Anne agrees, "Something about the power of all the elements combined in The Cauldron."
19:55 <Devar> "The Cauldron, huh?" Devar murmurs. "I wonder if Seira and Antenora are friends or something? It'd explain why we have a follower of her here - I don't think that's a coincidence either."
19:55 <•Kotono> "I know they are," Anne says, "Moore's one of the Godsrush as well, and all of those groups are interconnected." Anne explains, "And all participated in Shar's destruction."
19:57 <Devar> Devar nods. "That makes sense, if they're all on good terms, it would explain a lot. I don't know about you, but I've not had any presence from Eldath except a helpful one here and there while we've been here - so whatever we're doing to get to the bottom of this situation feels like the right path to keep following. Maybe the elemental - if it is an elemental, needs help or something."
19:58 <Devar> "And maybe it has to be help from people like us and not ones from Outer planes?" he offers. "I'm mostly just spitballing ideas here, since if whatever was wrong was really serious one of the deities would've just... fixed it."
19:59 <Devar> "Like that time with the weird timey-wimey distortion stuff."
20:07 <•Kotono> "That's my thought as well. It may be somewhat defective, but it's not broken in a way that's beyond the pale," Anne says after some thought. "Or somewhere to send heroes to gain the equipment they desire."
20:07 <•Kotono> "It would explain why everything here's been useful, mostly," Rina agrees.
20:08 <Devar> "It doesn't explain how things keep ending up here, but that might be the part that's defective." Devar says. "What if those elementals we dealt with a few weeks ago came from here from the start? It doesn't... really matter, I guess, ultimately, but it does feel plausible."
20:11 <•Kotono> "Mmm. Skaya's been gone a long time," Anne interrupts here, "Hasn't she?"
20:12 <Devar> "She has." Devar confirms. "This sort of thing seems to happen an awful lot when she goes off by herself, doesn't it?"
20:15 <•Kotono> "Unfortunately," Anne murmurs.
20:15 <•Kotono> "I hope she's alright," Sanda says, "I don't want to have to mount a rescue mission."
20:15 <Devar> "So we either wait here for a bit longer or go in and possibly all get caught up in whatever it is she's caught up in." Devar says. "Maybe she met that other group of you all again."
20:15 <Devar> "Which, that part's weird to me too. Was that an illusion? If it was an illusion, why?"
20:17 <•Kotono> "I have no idea," Sanda says.
20:17 <•Kotono> Rina shrugs.
20:18 <•Kotono> Anne mulls it over longer, "Well, we know this place draws things in, has a purpose and arranges things so. Some illusory ability isn't unspeakable. As to why?" A deeper frown as she thinks, "Maybe it's part of its purpose?"
20:18 <Devar> "Too many questions without answers." Devar says. "It might be - it might be just trying to fabricate things from people who are 'inside' of it? It's impossible to know."
20:19 <Devar> He glances into the cave for a moment. "We don't have enough resistance to fire for everyone, do we?"
20:21 <•Kotono> "I have one more spell," Sanda says, "Anne?"
20:21 <•Kotono> "A few protections from energy, but we needed other things today," Anne shakes her head. "If only I had more skill."
20:24 <Devar> "It's something I can pick up too." Devar says. "We haven't really needed it before this adventure so I never wrote any of them down, but I can add it without any issue going forward."
20:25 <Devar> "But the reason I bring it up is we can't just barrel in and hope for the best. As much as it feels like it isn't great, I think we just keep waiting here." He says.
20:28 <•Kotono> "Very well," Anne doesn't argue it, settling in to wait more. OOC: More, lemme resolve Skaya a bit furthe rfirst since she uh in some trouble.
20:31 <Devar> Devar does pray for Skaya's safe return in the meanwhile!
20:44 <•Kotono> More time passes. Anne starts to look upward and quietly prays, mouth moving in silent words. Sanda's quiet until, "Say, do they ever respond?"
20:45 <•Kotono> Anne blinks and looks up, "Sometines in dreams, sometimes in signs I cannot mistake as anything but. Rarely in direct words. We are guided, but with the freedom to make our own choices and our own mistakes. Yet the more I live, the more I see the hands that guide us and contend for us. Why?"
20:47 <Devar> "It's like Anne says." Devar agrees. "I had a dream before we went down to deal with that wizard about sacrificing myself to protect people from the undead - it was asked of me in intention and not direct words, if that makes sense."
20:53 <•Kotono> "You have to know that not only do the righteous ones want to protect us and guide us to them, the vile ones which to drag us down, consume us, condemn us. All to influence our choices towards them." Anne continues, "I firmly believe Regis is at rest now, because he chose to sacrifice for others and paid his life for it."
20:54 <•Kotono> "It just seems..." Sanda waves her hand vaguely, "Topical?"
20:55 <Devar> "We're definitely being guided towards something." Devar says. "Either it's Skaya herself that we're being guided along with or all of us proceeding towards the same goal."
20:56 <•Kotono> "I don't think it makes a large difference in the end which of those two it is," Anne notes, "The difference is mostly academic."
20:57 <Devar> "That's true - even after we defeat Brachidos I'll probably still want to follow along with all of you. It's been a good experience." He says. "Plenty of training and opportunities, and lots of reward that I can donate back home to the churches."
21:03 <•Kotono> "The same. The orphange will be well taken care of when I return," Anne concurs, smiling now.
21:04 <Devar> "I'm probably just looking for an excuse to not go back to mundane guild contracts, though." Devar adds with a smile of his own.
21:04 <•Kotono> "I never really did them," Sanda retorts, "Oh, my little shop." She sighs at this, "I hope it's well."
21:05 <•Kotono> "You'll have gold enough to make it right even if it went wrong," Rina remarks, "No worries there."
21:07 <Devar> Devar nods. "Agreed. You might even be gone long enough to learn how to teleport yourself back." He says. "That's still a bit a ways off, but if we ever do reach that level then finding someone like Brachidos becomes a lot easier."
21:09 <•Kotono> 'Far easier,' Sanda brightens, 'If I become that skilled, I can open a proper mage's store!"
21:10 <•Kotono> "Or you could-" Anne begins, only interrupted by Sanda's bright smile and an obscene gesture. "Or you could also invest in the less fortunate with your leftovers as well as your recurring income from a mage's shop," Anne appends.
21:11 <•Kotono> Rina cracks a smile at that, before Anne's gaze turns to her. She sighs but nods, "One of these days I'm just going to surrender my bookkeeping to you and save us both the trouble."
