The Journeyman from Ryu-Kyu

Death tugs the polarbear skin a little tighter around his shoulders and decides to do a little recon of the area, avoiding the house with a car for now, specifically looking for any signs of green or even a few rocks that look like they'd be good to throw.

Death wonders, if this place is going to be a nature conservatory, where's the nature?

[Brian]

Not really rocks, but lots of nice, jagged concrete lumps.

Other than that, and litter, this place looks picked clean.  You wonder who actually lives in a place like this, now.

Death pockets some of the rocks that are of a size that makes them suitable for throwing. Then Death decides to scout out that house with a car in front of it. Any signs of life?

[Brian]

You approach the house, and it looks like someone does ineed live there.  The tired buzz of a generator clunks away from a garage, and light comes out of a window.  There's also smoke from the chimney.

The mailbox is empty, for whatever that means.

Death decides to be neighborly and knocks on the front door.

"Hello? Anyone home?"

[Brian]

You hear the barking of a dog, but no one comes to the door.  Maybe it's your cloak....  You do feel really comfortable, considering that you're in snow, and still wearing your 'light' winter clothing from Ryu-Kyu.

[RangerShade]

Death knocks again.

"Hello?"

[Brian]

Your reward is more dog barking.  Maybe they're avoiding you....

[RangerShade]

Death checks to see if the door is locked.

[Brian]

It is.  You think you hear someone moving around inside, but no one opens up.  The dog is now barking more loudly, and you can hear it scratching at the door.

Death decides to withdraw quietly, keeping a wary eye on the door.

[Brian]

No one emerges from the house, and you get back to the street without any difficulties.

[RangerShade]

Death decides to study the car. Does it look usable?

[Brian]

Hard to say under the snow.  You'd guess so, though.  It is worth noting, since you're looking, that it's not snowing right now, but you don't see a gap in the snow that would indicate a car being parked next to the one there.  This suggests that someone is probably home, unless the fire's been running since before the snow began.
