Opening the door, Cedric enters the room, greeting Salvius with, "Good day."

[Carthrat]

"Greetings," replies Salvius. "What brings you here?"

With a slight grimace Luciano replies, "I don't hold great love for Romans or slave owning masters, no matter how 'fair' they might be."

After a pause, "Where is this 'Istanbul?' What is it like?"

"Yes, you will be paid.  It's not much, only 250 gold per week each.  You will also get part of any spoils that come along."

Looking up at Luciano, he gives some details on Istanbul.

"Curiousity," Cedric replies. "I've been wondering whether you found out anything else about those thieves."

[Carthrat]

Salvius shakes his head. "Nothing," he replies.

[Corwin]

"I suppose I'll have to let it go, then." Cedric shrugs. "After all, what are the chances of that frothing thief that escaped coming back for revenge?"

Nodding to himself, he says, "I suppose I'll see you at work," as he prepares to leave the room.

[Carthrat]

"You won't," replies Salvius shaking his head. "I've been comissioned to travel to the front," he says. "Leaving tomorrow."

[Corwin]

"Travel to the front?" Cedric asks, surprised. "Which front?"

[Carthrat]

"*THE* front," replies Salvius. "In New Scotia. I'm being assigned to General Kizar's unit. It's very prestigious, apparently.

I've been blacklisted from the regular army, you see, but going as a Representative of the Temple of Mars counters that. If I survive, I'll be decorated, both by the legions and the temple."

[Corwin]

"I wish you luck," Cedric says, smiling. "May you participate in great battles and come out unscathed!"

[Carthrat]

"I'll settle for coming out unscathed," replies Salvius, dryly.

[Corwin]

Cedric nods, still smiling, and bids Salvius goodbye, leaving back for the inn he's staying at.

Luciano tries to hide his interest in this exotic sounding 'Istanbul' but a hint of boyish wonder shines through his face, momentarily erasing the warrior image and reflecting his true age.

OCC:  Where IS Istanbul anyway?  Isn't that somewhere in Turkey or something?

Azen explained of Istanbul:

Istanbul is a far off eastern land of exotic wonders and tanned tall warriors.  Famous for it's silks and spices.  It's noramally acessible only by sea, but my master has given me a route to get their by land.  It's on the border of the roman empire and it's silks are quite valued.
