If knowledge is power, then the British Library is the most powerful institution on the planet. It may seem like a truism taken to absurdity, but in this case, the truth is stranger than fiction...

While the halycon days of the British Empire are long in the past, the subtle actions of those in Her Majesty's service beneath the public eye still have a profound effect, the world over. Agents of the British Library range across the Earth, seeking out long lost manuscripts and forgotten texts. From obscure diaries of legendary leaders, to the first draft of a now famous play, the British Library collects and preserves them all.

But there are rivals, in this ancient game. The Chinese organisation, Dokusensha, once thought no more than a footnote of history, is rising to challenge the British Library in the East, and perhaps closer to home. Many strange eccentrics with unquantifiable abilities have joined their ranks, stymying the efforts of the British Library abroad.

But Britain has her own unique talents. A small, but exceptionally skilled cadre of exceptional people, devoted to bringing all knowledge to Britannia...

And that, dear prospective player, is where you come in.

I'm looking for 3 players (one spot already claimed) for a diceless RPG set in the Read or Die universe. Want to play a Paper User? You can! Want to phase through solid objects and flip out and kill people? That's allowed as well! Want to have no powers except an uncanny ability to not get killed, and prodigous skill with firearms? Sure! Any ability you saw in the OVA or TV series, or even something brand new, is okay by me. Well... I might nerf you if you want to play an invincible cloud riding sea parting monk who can hit satellites in orbit with his extending staff, but you get the idea.

This is my first attempt at GMing (besides a bunch of omakes in the Sailor Moon game), and there might be a few hiccups at first as we settle into the diceless system, but I hope with the right group of players I can really make this work. It'll be forum based, expecting a couple of posts a day, and will start in a week or so, depending on how long it takes to get all the players sorted out.

So, who's up for it?

Edward

I'm interested.  Forum based or IRC?
If you see Vampire Hikaru Shidou, it is Fox.  No one else does that.  You need no other evidence." - Dracos

"Huh? Which rant?" - Gary

"Do not taunt Happy Fun Servitor of the Outer Gods with your ineffective Thompson Submachine Gun." - grimjack

Brian

I wish I could play, both because this game sounds awesome, and because two awesome people who's names begin with 'e' are part of it.

But ... I don't think I have the time.

Do you have a slot open for standing at the sidelines and ;_;ing continuously?

Edward: says forum based up there.

Eb: Well, assuming Brian's special agent, "The Crying Sideline Man", cannot join due to his time constraints and no one else wishes to join, I'll nab the last spot.

I'll be willing to step aside if anyone else really wants to join though.
<Cidward> God willing, we'll all meet in Buttquest 2: The Quest for More Butts.

Ebiris

Whee! Full turnout!

Ok, I'll try and speak to everyone on IRC over the next day or so to clarify anything that needs clarification and get your preliminary character concepts.

Bean (the lazy schmuck who never posted but is player number 1) has indicated he wants to play a paper user, but that doesn't have to stop anyone else playing one - the TV series worked with 3 of them, after all. Although honestly I would prefer to see a more diverse mix, I won't stand in the way of any reasonable player concept.

And yes, Brian, you can have the coveted but highly demanding position of 'crying man on sidelines'.

Brian

Excellent!

The River of Tears Technique is strong against paper users, you know....

Aww, Brian got my spot... >_>

Curse this work I have to do, or I would so have joined this.
