I've had a minor epiphany related to my course at university - it's been pissing me off because I don't like it very much, so I was thinking of changing to something drastically different next year.

I've realised I don't need to do that, I just need to focus on the bits I do enjoy and finish my degree with that, then do whatever the hell I want to. This amounts (at the moment, until I get disallusioned) with somehow forcing my way into the games industry. So I'm going to do my damn best to get a job with a company in London, Ideaworks3d, this summer, and keep doing programming and trying to pick up useful skills, even if my degree ends up being chemistry or something stupid.

Sorry for the minor idealistic rant there, but hey, it's your fault for reading all of what I wrote.

Dracos

The game industry chews on idealism.

And chemistry has got to be the oddest major I've yet heard to try and break into that market.  =)

Good luck though.

Thanks. What I'm hoping is that what all the staff at my old school said is true - that it really doesn't matter what your degree is, in the end, it's just a certificate that proves you've got a brain.

Except ones relating to English. They just look pretty and take up space on paper work ;_;

I'm currently hard at work trying to set a record for the number of times one can fail the driving test.

Dracos

Good luck Celisasu.

I'm going to be going to see about passing Proglang's test in a few hours.  Yaaaay.

Sadly I'm actually going to have agree with you on that point, but mainly because the chemistry I'm doing at the moment is more like maths. Boooooooring.

Dracos

Chemistry is always boring unless punctuated with explosions.

Nah, organic mechanisms are interesting. Especially the ones that end up making trinitrotoluene. =D

Ragnar

Biology is much more interesting because it moves.
