Scoff if you want, but I've been keeping an eye on this system's development, and I've been pretty impressed by what I've seen. Honestly, it looks like it's going to seriously give Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft a run for their money.

Let me guess. The Phantom? The Gizmondo?

This is..... Well, just watch it. I don't know if it should be up for amusement value, or for how pathetic it is.

Behold, the greatness of Bush:

Obviously, the commentators are spoofing, but still, the content is greatness.

This is also worth a look at:

Bush Quotes. Both the funniest and scariest thing I've seen in a while.
This is not the greatest post in the world, no... this is just a tribute.

Dexie Oblivion

Moonchild Dex: Hey.
Moonchild Dex: I owe you a thanks. XD
Iron Dragoon00: For what?
Moonchild Dex: Remember you sent me that song? It Rubs the Lotion on It's Skin?
Iron Dragoon00: Yeah? What about it?
Moonchild Dex: Well...
Moonchild Dex: Tonight at work, some guys started talking about Silence of the Lambs for some reason.
Moonchild Dex: And I jokingly started to sing that.
Moonchild Dex: And everyone looked at me like 'What the fuck are you singing?'
Iron Dragoon00: Heh.
Moonchild Dex: So it explained that the song was based on the guy in the movie.
Iron Dragoon00: Buffalo Bill.
Moonchild Dex: My boss walked up and said 'Uh, no. That wasn't in Silence of the Lambs'
Moonchild Dex: I said it was.
Moonchild Dex: Long story short, we made a bet about it.
Iron Dragoon00: rofl
Moonchild Dex: He owes me $100 bucks now. ^^
Iron Dragoon00: hahhahaha
Iron Dragoon00: Well, congrats. Spend it well =p
Moonchild Dex: I plan on it. ^^
Moonchild Dex: So.....thanks. XD Without you, I'd be 100 dollars poorer right now
Iron Dragoon00: No, you just wouldn't have made $100 =p

Not really a post, but I find it hilarious anyway; hopefully, you will too:

Hehe.  From the Desks-of-people-who-think-they-know-what-they-are-talking-about department, I bring you this "article".

Their commenting system ate my criticism for being too long, and I didn't feel the need to re-enter it.  Suffice to say my initial reply would be: "Well, isn't that cute....  BUT IT'S WRONG!"

Well, except for #1.  He's got a point, there.

Wow. That's really, really stupid. Especially #3.

baka

He's got a point with #1.
#2 I agree it'd be nice to see some things he mentions like you being the invader for a change, or trying to shore up the defenses against an invasion, but to be fair there aren't that many games that are the stereotype he describes.
#3 is just plain silly. People play games because they want to be the one who can save the world.
#4 I can agree with this a bit too, but the market shows that pretty games sell well, so this trend will be hard to buck. Games will get prettier and prettier, and more and more expensive to make. Bummer.
#5 is as stupid as #3. Especially his example: Exactly how many FMVs were there in FFVII, and how did they interfere at all with the gameplay?

Well, it's a nice idea, but his whole article talks about essentially casting aside the old paradigm.  His suggestion is really going to be the same game, only with a villain label instead of a hero one.  It only wins points on marketing, which doesn't work with the whole 'twist of finding out you are the enemy'.  Either way, while it's an idea, it's not (strictly speaking) innovative.  It's another mold for the same games we have ... he should be giving examples of what can be done that hasn't if he's so keen on bucking the trend.

Yeah....  I kind of had to O_o? at #5.  I'm pretty sure that FFVII is a bad choice, though.  Wasn't it really half-tech-demo, half-game?  A game with too many cinematics would be the first MG on PS2.  That, yeah, that's overkill.  Innovations to improve?  Skippable cut-scenes and a 'replay' or 'summary' feature (which some games now sport anyway).

Someone linked that and yeah...it's all stupid.

Even number 1.

On face, that whole bit?  It sounds sensible.

Except when you realize how many god damn pornos + Rated R for the sex scene + "lets have this chick in our TV show walking in the rain for ratings" + "Here's a 'Romance' novel, the sex scene is great" bits go on each year in other industries?

Being fair, not a tremendous percentage of games do that whole buxom bouncing babe physics.  Maybe 2-4 a year.  Now, often these are high profile things, but seriously, it seems like the game industry gets more shit for doing this kind of stuff than any other industry.  Maybe it is because, at the moment, I've been hit with a load of 'have sympathy for the poor women folks' bullshit, but I don't see it.  I bought two dozen games recently.  None of them had bouncing babes in them.  Yes, a few times a year we see this stupidity.  Usually from companies on the verge of going out of business or companies whose entire business model is "Bouncy babes".  So what?

Personally, my favorite bit was the 'storyline bit quoting...System Shock 2.

I don't care who you are, if you're quoting System Shock 2, of all FPSes, as your 'stories are lame and sucky', you lose.

Btw, if someone, god forbid, actually thinks any of them are particularly good, I'd be happy to tear apart any of his little pieces of trash. =D

Quote#2 Your Storylines Suck--Get New Ones
The brilliance of this one is really surreal since I'm just now playing System Shock 2 for the first time, and not two hours ago I was the guy holding the gun in that SS2 screenshot on the page. I can say with no hesitation that "need new storylines" is not what is on one's mind when one goes into this tiny security room, picks up and listens to the audio log on the floor, and realize what happened here. While not being cliche is something to consider when writing storylines, the badness of the example is just awesome.
