Sure enough, words appear now. Reading it, you see that it changes Aurora's fate. Without Kascha's aid, missions go worse and rely on different people. In time, Muirfinn's attempt to challenge and slay Athux fails without her, resulting in Muirfinn, Canderella, Adrian and Vivantha falling to Athux. That setback hurts Aurora, more when Misalea loses her life in a desperate bid to free Adrian's soul. It leads to increased struggles, increased challenges - and when the battles for Lifasa comes, it all becomes hazy more and more vague, but all it speaks of is increasingly negative for Aurora's chances.

Seira purses her lips. She'd like to think she would have given Aurora her aid anyway, but it was Kascha's failure to support the Crusade properly that really got her going. Would she have reexamined her priorities where it comes to the divine status quo in time? Certainly. But how long would it have taken?

She decided to check another change in time, this one being a timeline where she and Alicia went into the God-King's ruins with intent to bring about his final judgement just before they two of them ascended and were barred from doing so.

Nothing happens.

"Interesting, isn't it?" The Inevitable approaches, "It's once per day, the magic to create and analyze such a thing is not easy."

"That..." Kascha frowns as she reads, "The battle against Athux was close. Even a little setback could have doomed us. That's far too plausible."

"I'll let you choose the what if for tomorrow," Seira tells Kascha, offering the book to her. She can wait another couple of days to find out the answer to her thoughts.

Then, she checks the room methodically with her eyes and magic, and should it hold nothing else of interest Seira plans to descend and pick another stairway to stabilize.

You find nothing else of interest here.

Going back down, you see...

A simple path within, an empty floor with four stairs going up, each in a cardinal direction.

The stairway to the north is made of gold and looks otherwise normal.

The stairway to the south is made of stone and is difficult to look at.

The stairway to the east is made of paper and seems to loop higher and higher the longer you look at it.

The stairway to the west is made of dust and dirt.

Seira decides to pursue the path to the east, breaking the looping time and then immediately freezing what stairs remain in time so that she would still have a stairway to climb.

Up these stairs you go, the challenges seemingly in hand now. In here is a plain room, with some hunks of what look like iron ore, a hammer and a cold, empty hearth.

Seira forms a mirror floating in the air before her, and uses it to look at the room in the past, then the future, in case it was in a different state elsewhen.

Anastasia

In the past you see that a sword is there instead of iron ore, a hammer and a cold hearth.

It must be the very definition of awesome but impractical, Seira muses as she idly advances the three of them forward a day.

"Take a glance at the book?" she tells Kascha, since she did promise to give her the next shot at it.

Nothing happens.

Remember, going into the past is fine, but future travel doesn't work. You can go up to the present but no further. You can divine or view likely futures, but they aren't written in stone.

Arguably, if we used it at a given date and now we're in the past, the 1/day usage hasn't been hit for it back then! But sure.

"I think I'd like to ask for a hint here," Seira tells Chrona, raising the sword she'd found. "It's really, really nice, but I will never be able to use it. That feels terrible to a dragon! Am I supposed to reforge it with the equipment in the present?"

The nothing happens was to trying to go into the future for the reasons noted in the previous post.

"Temporal manipulation to adjust the temporal frame - or just take it from the past," Chrona admits, "Either is fine. Consider it a complementary addition to your hoard, complements of the Temporal Compact. Everyone who goes through this gets a few."
