Lafiel giggled.  "I don't know what he would do with such a thing.   I have no idea what Zaphiel has found, although I would be surprised if he hadn't found anything of value."

Jared led Daggedal out of the house and onto the main street.   Heading east on the road, Daggedal could see people lighting street lamps in the early dusk.  The road, while occupied by others, was hardly full.

The houses were quaint looking, and shouted out 'peaceful' as they walked along the road.

The people seemed happy, although Daggedal received several glances, some inquisitive, some frightened.  They walked slowly, and serenely.  Their dress was nice, clean clothing that  free of wrinkles or blemishes marked their attire.  He noted various skin tones and heights.  A few children ran along the streets, parents smiling gently at their play.   The people on the streets all looked healthy, obesity wasn't a problem, nor was age, as no appeared to be over forty.

They eventually came to an area that seemed to be a market.  Jared walked up to one of the vendors, the only one to have anything resembling weapons.

"Ahh,  Jared.   What does Arkanel wish of me?"  He was facing the boy, but Daggedal could see the furtive glances his way.

"Master Arkanel asked me to show this gentleman to your shop."  He indicated Daggedal when he spoke.

The stocky man turned to face Daggedal.  His sandy blonde hair had natural highlights, almost blending in with his pale complexion.   He stood six inches over five feet, and his erect carriage spoke of muscles.  "What may I do for you?"

Miaka nodded. "Fun, fun."

Chewing on a piece of strawberry-flavored bubblegum, she got a pondering expression on her face. "Is there more than one teleporter rod? And if there are, what happens if there are two bases made to be identically attuned to one rod, and not a Chosen activates it?"
<Steph> I might have made a terrible mistake

"I'm sure there is more than one... well, I shouldn't say sure, but my uncle mentioned others from different cities had them.   I don't think a rod can be attuned to more than one base... "  Lafiel responde to Miaka.

"That's reassuring." Miaka smiled at Lafiel. "Thanks, I feel much more ready now. Maybe, if we manage to get the drop on Zaphiel, and take away his toys, we'll win without any bloodshed. Won't that be nice?"

Lafiel smiled.  "I hope you can.  It would... I would..." she stopped speaking as Miaka could see the corners of her eyes glistening.

Miaka leaned over to the older girl, and offered her a handkerchief. "Take heart!" she said brightly. "Things will work out, Suzaku-willing."

Jeremiah nodded.  "Did you know these people?  Were they the sorts who would have been induced by something he could have offered them?"
Hangin' out backstage, waiting for the show.

Arkanel looks at Jeremiah.  "I know all the people in my city."  He looked away for a second before continuing, "They were actually very adventurous people... if that makes any sense.  They always questioned what they wanted out of life and the community."

"Aye 'eard you were a decent smith. Was wonderin', can ye craft me a coat of mail? Would be much appreciateed, though I'll understand if ye canna do it fer me."

Daggedal spoke calmly, looking around the smiths shop as he did so..

"A coat of mail...  Could you describe it a bit better?" the man asked incredulously.

Daggedal's survey uncovered a shop that made mostly blades:  spear tips, daggers, and knives were on display, along with a few pots, pans, and horseshoes.

Lafiel took the handerchief.  Turning her head, she dabbed her eyes.  "Thanks.  You're so kind.  Do you really need to go with those other killers?"

"Armour. Yer know, like a shirt, only made of metal plates. Surely ye've at least 'eard of it? Ah see you ain't much for war 'ere, but don't ye ave any stories or anything?"

It seemed inconceivable to Daggedal..

Arael stood outside the mage's home thinking deeply. There seemed little to no change of her being able to use either of her abilities in the upcoming conflict, and the fool continued to try to put the blame on those he himself chose for this mission. Idiot. How could someone so incompetent end up leading anything other than an ass? It boggled the mind.

Sighing, she stepped away from the door at last, intent on exploring the town a little. She put on a grin. After all, there was no point in wasting a good opportunity like this to see another world, was there? With these thoughts in mind and a smile on her face she set off toward the city, eyes taking in her surroundings.

Arael walked down the walkway to the main street.  The town stretched to the west, and then back to the East, the direction they had arrived in.
