Clara led Remdos out of the room, into a small area that had stairs leading up and another set leading down.  She moved too a small door, and opened it, removing a small lamp.  Lighting the wick, it gave of a soft glow.

Satisfied with her work, she led Remdos down the stairs.

Traveling down the stairs, Remodos found himself in a large spartan room.  The stirs were located in the middle of it, with fourteen beds, seven each along opposite walls.  There was a doorway on one of the other walls, and the last wall was bare.

The beds were each full-sized, two pillows, and white blankets.  A small chest stood at the foot of each, and a small nightstand.

Clara turned to him and handed him the small lamp.  "You can take any bed you wish.  Is there anything else you need?"

"I've heard of armour," the man scoffed at Daggedal.  "I have a picture book that had drawings of it!  Been meaning to try and make some... but I want to know what do you wish it to be?  I can call the seamstress and make plates that will fit into a leather jerkin.  I can make a breast plate, or some leg covererings, depending on how you want it fitted.  I also need to know what you wish me to try and make it out of.  Iron, copper, gold, wood  -- I'd need the carver for wood --, I've got a little steel on hand.  I need to know how much to charge, ya, and then your sizes, and I'm sure I forgot something else.  And the request is just a bit strange, don't ya think?"

He peered intently at Daggedal, before adding, "I'm also late for dinner, so either be quick or comeback in the morning."

Miaka frowned. Looking around to make sure no one was in hearing range, she leaned over towards Lafiel again and said quietly, "Actually, it might be better to see Zaphiel in person before judging him. Is there any way for me to do that? Preferably, a way that doesn't get me toasted?"

Nirae looked puzzledly up from digging a trail ration out of her pack.

"Jewels? What ARE you talking about, Rackham?"

Lafiel looked at the girl, consideration evident on her face.

"My uncle went to see him... but he made me promise not to go near Camelot...."

Miaka shrugged. "I won't force you to do something you don't want to do. But if you think you'll be safe from Zaphiel and can arrange for a sort of temporary truce at the very least...."

"I know several people like that,"  Jeremiah flashed Arkanel a quick grin, "but would they have gone of their own accord, or would he have had to offer them something?"

Lafiel's eye dart about and she shifts uncomfortably in her chair.  Finally she stands up and calls to the waitress who comes over immediately.

"My uncle will get the tab."

She motions for Miaka to follow as she walks to the door and heads outside.

"You might be surprised. . . alright.  Does Zaphiel know of us, and how much do the townspeople know?"

Miaka nodded, and stuffed a bunch of candy into her pocket. Grabbing two lollipops, she followed Lafiel. Upon catching her, she offered her one of them with a smile.

Arael chose the western path. She kept an eye out for any places of moderate interest and on the locals. She was especially curious about the feelings of the general population.

The sun had set, and the road was lit with lamposts that offered sufficient illumination to see with.

Lafiel took the offered lollipop and returned a concerned frown.

She leaned in close and spoke in a whisper.  "I'll take you, and you only, to see Zaphiel if you wish.  If so, meet me in three hours time at the western edge of the town.  There's a bridge that crosses the river, meet me just past it.  If your're not alone, or not there, you'll never see me."

Arael walked down the path.  She noted a few people about, including some that were lighting street lamps to fight against the setting sun.

The populace was cheerful, and pretty carefree.  She noted mostly houses along the way, a diner and general store were clearly marked.

She could hear a river running before she saw it in the distance.  A bridge ran over it.

The last house before the river was a rather large townhome situated just off the road.  An elegantly dressed woman sat upon a porch in front.

Miaka nodded. "I'll be there. I don't want to leave my stuff where someone may find and abuse them, but I won't use them to attack anyone."

Miaka took note of the time and of the road leading to the place specified to Lafiel from Arkanel's house, just to be on the safe side.

Lafiel offered Miaka a small smile.

"I'm glad.  I need to go take care of some things."  She waved and ran ahead of the girl, entering Arkanel's house in the distance.
